Hey Zenith, are you using a high dof, or is it just that camera that's adding all that grain into those pictures? It's pretty bad man, especially in shadow areas.

yeah i shot that one with the lens full extended, with a 1600 ISO, and @ 2.8 so yeah "big time" DOF... I just have been with this camera for a month... i jump from a point and shoot... so im learning on the the way... that was one of my first shots on the light box... so you can imagine !!!!
and the other thing is that, the light box is for taking "macros" IMO... and not for getting good DOF... in the light box what we are looking for is a good definition of the item itself... I was playing with dif focus points though... would you mind sharing some advices and techniques on the light box... will be very welcome!! |

If things had no light, they would look kind of like this: ![]() Indoors if we put a lamp next to something we get a strong shadow like this: ![]() Outdoors the atmosphere diffuses the light and we get some global light mixed in and it looks something like this: ![]() When we put things in a light box its almost all global lighting as thats what we are shooting for and we get VERY soft shadows like this:

No problem, lighting is a very difficult thing to master, why do you think its a four year degree at most colleges, and has a 6 year optional masters, and theres like 50 different lighting artists on movie sets that you see in the credits, its a crazy thing!
*edit* Hey mods, maybe one of you could snip these last few posts and integrate them into the photography guide thread so theya rent cluttering up the HWP threaD? *edit 2* wow thats 1600 iso at full aperature? then thats really not bad grain for the iso setting o.o Try lowering the iso to 80 and taking the same shot with a longer exposure time to compensate (like ~3 seconds), and itll look 500x better because it wont have grain

Here some more of that MIPS serie
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() CPU block for the build I will use them for wil be a watercool heatkiller V3. Funny I saw Langer had the same combination for his build . But I will post a worklog of this buil shortly on this (great) forum once I have made some substantial progress.

MIPS is cool? Looks like good stuff, is that hard to get here in the US or do they sell it here?

Its hard to get in the US, as there are no distributors for it, but with MIPS you can call them/email them and they will let you order internationally, Im not sure with Watercool
