Default P55 cpu cooler mounting

If you are familiar with the P55 boards you will know they offer both 775 and 1156 CPU cooler mounting holes. There is a small problem with this. When installing a 775 CPU cooler like my HK 3.0 onto these particular boards the CPU cooler is rotated clockwise about 10 degrees. This may not bother some people but being off-kilter like that makes my O.C.D. flare up.

You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. At RRTECH his job is to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well EIGHTLUG is the best.

Yup that's a fix for it. I, myself will use this particular 775 HK for my HTPC build and just get another 1156 HK

Just by looking at it the 775 and 1156 bolt patterns are really close to being the same. I guess they figured if they were both placed squarely over the CPU socket there wouldn't be enough material between the two different holes to provide enough strength in the PCB to support CPU mount brackets. Now since the 775's are the older tech they get treated like the bastard children of the intel family of sockets

Ah i see, haha. Why couldn't they just make all 1156 boards use the same mounting for coolers as 775? I don't understand the logic...

Wow that's dumb as hell. I suppose for the majority of people who are using air coolers, you can generally rotate the heatsink independent of the mount, so it wouldn't be as large of an issue.

Hell, if you're just cutting a slot on each corner so the screws can be a bit further apart, then you can do that yourself in about an hour with some files...

Yah, looks like ass. make a custom plate for sure.

Well Pope, I haven't fired it up yet... But, It looks great and I think asthetically it will work in most any build since it's, for the most part, all black. I should be able to run it later this week. I'll keep you posted.
