i need help getting this idea out of my head.

i want this case to be for water cooling components only. no PC will be in the case at all.

i want the 2 rads up front side by side in a vertical orientation. (2 560GTX's)

the dimensions i know that i need are ...

26" tall X 12" deep x 16" wide

i need to be able to mount the following inside....

2 iwaki rd30's, 2 ek250 res's, 2 hw labs 560 GTX's, 3 meanwell psu's, 16 fans(possibly)

im thinking about using 2 or 3 large fans to pull air through the case. this would probably save a good bit of money and be easier in the long run. possibly 2 or 3 220cfm pelko's but idk.

thats all i KNOW. what else should i know? can you guys help me figure this out a little better? perhaps someone can draw this up for me?

26" height, huh...

You'll have to get BEN to make a "custom" case. That will cost more :money: :money: :money:

Fitseries3
12-20-2008, 06:04 PM
i already talked to him about it and he said $40 a panel.

utnorris
12-20-2008, 06:04 PM
Either have Ben build it or do it yourself. I don't know your skill level so you might just want Ben to do it for you.

Fitseries3
12-20-2008, 06:34 PM
i can do it myself but im considering getting a MM case this time around.

RedRaider
12-20-2008, 08:12 PM
Are the radiators 16" wide?

Could you kindly provide the dimensions of the radiators.

MM Ascension - 24"h x 18"w x 18"d
MM Extended Ascension - 34"h x 18"w x 24"d

I highly suggest you consider the MM Extended Ascension, you'll probably need four custom panels at the minimum.

Fitseries3
12-20-2008, 08:26 PM
156mm x 605mm x 53mm is what HW labs says for a single rad.

RedRaider
12-20-2008, 09:17 PM
So the dimensions in English would be;

23.8"l x 6.1"w x 2.1"d

Let me think on this...

Fitseries3

a few crap pics of my idea...

idk if i will do fan holes or cut the whole section out for the rads

here's the back. i was thinking of useing 3 or 4 large high cfm fans

u would be better off using a squirrel cage blower out the back with the blower in the box as it would draw the air in thru the rads & exit out the back , ya would get more CFM for yer buck ...some of them blowers are quite too ! like the ones in a home furnace .......

rads mounted on the flat front(or in this case side, the widest one) not as pictured.

Fitseries3
12-20-2008, 10:00 PM
i want the whole thing enclosed too... so the fans can pull air through the case.

Fitseries3
12-20-2008, 11:18 PM
this is more like the concept of what im thinking of doing...

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/7250/kollkube014vl5.jpg

the fan pulls air through the rads and out the top. i'd be using several large fans though.

what do you think?

Fitseries3
12-21-2008, 12:03 PM
anyone have any input?

how many cfm's you think the 2 rads need?

I really can't think of what you wanna do, I mean I know what you are describing, but I dont know who will sell something like that, either you can have one Made or do it yourself. Other than that I dont know what to tell you dude.

Thanks dude, finally got around to joining. So what ideas have you been able to mock up there so far? You said you spoke with Ben for $40 a panel, what else?

Fitseries3
12-21-2008, 12:19 PM
i think after discussing it with the guys here on RRR i have decided to make my own. i have all the tools and skillz to do it so thats not a problem.

really i just need to figure out some of the finer details like the CFM needed to cool the rads.

i have never had a HW labs rad so i dont know any of their characteristics. i was hoping a HWlabs owner would chime in but no one has really answered any of my questions yet.

cpu and nb on the i7 rig (for now)

cool. Fit if you don't mind discussing what temps are you getting now with the Thermochills, and how do you have them configured. I mean i'm sure temps will improve, but do you really need them to improve, how are they now?

Fitseries3
12-21-2008, 01:52 PM
temps are fine at idle. under load however they top out in the 70-80c range.

the problem is more that over time the water temps rise far above ambient and the rads are hot to the touch. the water at the cpu block comming in is ~34c and the temps going into the rad(from the cpu) is ~41C so the block is effectively removing the heat, the rads just cant pull the heat from the water efficiently enough.

all this is at 4ghz+ on the i7 920 + x58 NB

Thanks FIT. Thats weird though, however it could be that your NB puts out a lot of heat.

Right now i'm using a 120.1 rad that I had bought from Binge because I was going to use it for my Phenom which with that rad it is more than enough, that CPU doesn't put out lot of heat. But i decided to just try it out on the i7 and I idle low to mid 40's and max out at 75 ºc under full load on prime. single fan rad push and pull. You think its the radiatros to blame though, can it be mabye you need a stronger pump or something? You do have the gTZ just like me right for CPU block?

12-25-2008, 10:06 PM
1" rivets are your answer sir.

Fitseries3
12-25-2008, 10:06 PM
yes. basically the only idea i have come up with is to make a whole outer shell out of plexi that doesnt even touch the inner alu skeleton. i have TONs of insulation though so it will be very quiet no matter how i build it. rivets may work if i can get long enough ones.

Chicken Patty
12-26-2008, 01:03 AM
I was wondering myself, wouldn't that setup be super loud, but then you posted the pic of the insulation and it kinda just answered my question :)
