Alright...I finally got around to doing some work on this badboy today.
Hardware is as follows:
Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5
Intel Core i7 920
Mushkin Triple Channel XP3-1600 7-8-7-18 6GB
EVGA GTX Core 216 SC (up to tri-SLI *still deciding whether to wait for 55nm or not*)
Cooling will be done by:
2 Thermochill PA 120.2
1 Themochill PA 120.1
6 Scythe S-Flex SFF21G 1900 RPM on a Rheobus
2 MCP655s with EK tops
Danger Den Tieton Blocks
A whole crapload of BP fittings
3/8"-1/2" Tygon R3606
I'm not the best at taking photos and my workspace doesn't have the best lighting, but I'll try to get some decent pics for everyone.
Here are some shots of my new gear.

Drain ports and pump mounting pics:
This is how the pumps will be mounted (don't freak out, if at all possible, I'll change the 90 degree fitting on the pump outlet to a 45)

Pumps now mounted. I hope the BP fitting is strong enough to hold them. I may put some Petras Gel Stuff wedged underneath them to brace it and take some of the weight off of the rotary T.

So Jealous you got to CD in time. I've been waiting a month or more for him to get back to me on a res but he said he'd still get me fixed up even though it's been so cold there. I had to order in a couple single DD bay res for now though. Might just stay with em if he doesn't get back to me.

rotate those pumps 1/4 a turn , so the out let faces up & there will be no need for a 90 .. mount pumps on a angle of Alu painted black .. put rubber gromments between the floor of the case & the ALU angle & that will stop the vibration & the need for the 90's all at the same time . gromments can also be used at the pump & the angle that will deadne everything Vib & sound ..

The thing is, if I turn the pump with the outlet facing up, it will still require a 90 to get out from under the motherboard tray. I tried about 4 or 5 different ways of mounting the pumps and this looks to be the one that will work and help me avoid using a 90. You'll see what I mean once the build progresses and my order of fittings gets here from NCIX.
Remember you need to get out from under the H2GO's acrylic mobo tray.
Anyway, there won't be any 90s on the pumps, just a 45 at the one outlet. I only used that 90 for spacing to make sure I didn't mount the pump too close to the side panel.
The res isn't a work of art, but at the end of the day, the seams won't leak and they won't be visible (I'd rather they be sealed properly). The layout of the res is what made it different, because I needed both outlets to the side in order to have my drain ports and the pumps in the floor of the case.
There's been a lot of planning and measuring and trying to figure out how to fit all that shit into that small case.

I'm a wing it kinda guy. I'll make it work even if it doesn't lol. Good luck getting a full order from NCIX by the way dude. I've made 4 orders from there in the last 2-3 weeks & every one had at least 1 item back ordered. Not happy as it's held me back considerably! I can't mount the front rad or fans till the damn grills come in, can't put the FC blocks on the cards till the SLI fittings come in. it's been one problem after the other with waiting on items from them. Ah well it'll happen once I get it all here lol.

Alright, next up, I need some input.
I was planning on going with a fan filter up front with a chrome grill on top for my front panel like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02305.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02306.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02307.jpg
I saw these:
http://www.jab-tech.com/images/D/d_1532-01.jpg
The benefit being, I can remove the filter without removing the screws for the rad mounting and everything. I already get a ton of dust (just in the several weeks I was running with those filters and the chrome grills I had huge dust buildup). Having the ability to clean the filters without dismounting the front rads and the hardrives in the lower part of the case is a huge, massive bonus.
Hmmm I think I've almost talked myself into it.
RedRaider
12-07-2008, 10:15 PM
I like that plastic filter with removable insert, over your current solution.
Why not just keep the square black filters you already have, minus the chrome grills. Those are the one's I'm using (no chrome grills though)...:king:
zlojack
12-07-2008, 10:18 PM
Thing is, they still trap the dust and the best way to clean them is by taking them off and washing them in water.
I think I've talked myself into the new option. The removeable filter is definitely a huge plus. I've tried to build this rig with serviceability in mind.
The drain ports were very important as my last LC rig was the biggest anal pain ever to drain.

I agree about the pump supported by fittings.
My plan is to support the body of the pump with Petra's Gel Stuff. I'll slice it a jam it under there to support the pump and take the weight off the fitting.
I'll start a thread on the board if you like. I don't know much about it yet, since I haven't been able to run it!!

zlojack,
Build is looking good.
I can appreciate the pain in the ass it is to sleeve a PSU, the 24 pin cable is a lot of work. It really takes a lot of patience.

Unfortunately, my current GPU (8800 GTS G92) decided it doesn't like me. *sigh*
Messy cables alert! This is going to be PITA on the final build. I might have to mod some of those cables to make them shorter.

I'm hoping the card doesn't short out my mobo or something.
zlojack
12-13-2008, 02:04 PM
The problem was definitely the card. Windows is now installing with the HD 3650.
I'll just avoid installing the Catalyst drivers. I might make a Vlite version of a fully updated install of Windows so I can do a fresh install when my build is finalized and not have to worry about downloading SP1 and all that crap.

Well I decided to start off the year working on my case so on New Year's Day I pulled everything apart and got to work. Basically I had to cut some holes, sleeve some cables and install the watercooling...so...almost nothing (yeah right!)
I got the pumps installed fairly easily along with the PSU and the HDD and Optical drive, fan controller and dual-chamber reservoir
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02341.jpg
Here's a closer shot of the pumps. I ended up putting foam between the pump and the floor of the case, which supports the pump nicely so the drain port isn't taking all the weight.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02342.jpg
Here's the rear of the case with the 120.1
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02343.jpg
Here's the evidence of the DUMBEST THING I'VE DONE THIS YEAR SO FAR! (I know it's still early :D) Anyway, trying to cut a hole with a holesaw around an existing hole is not a good idea. The holesaw jumped and look at the result. I'm going to touch it up with some car touchup paint :(
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02345.jpg
Here are the pump intakes. For some reason, when I did my mockup, I could use compression fittings on the CPU pump inlet and res outlet, but this time it wouldn't work. Good thing I had some regular 3/8" fittings around!!

A shot of the rear panel with the hole I made for the fan cables. The cables are spliced together and lead to one header on the fan controller so I control the whole loop with one knob.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02351.jpg
Here are the inlets for the rear rads. My Dremel skills leave something to be desired. I've learned a lot during this build, unfortunately, the case was the victim :(
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v391/zlojack/DSC02352.jpg
Now to the motherboard tray and some tubing runs to the top of the case. I decided to sleeve the tubing and I think it turned out pretty nice! :D At least it will help me forget about the Dremel disaster...

I used all different kinds of sleeving, but specifically on the tubing I used the 1/2" stuff from Sidewinder Computers. It's much better quality than anything else I've seen and has the added bonus of being round, so it almost helps to keep the super-soft 3/8"-1/2" tubing from collapsing.
I have a feeling that from now on I'll be using 1/4" wall tubing. This stuff is too damn thin! I already have had to add some zip ties to the res outlet tube. I am going to throw a coil on it to hopefully avoid issues and if that doesn't work I'll have to redo that section of tubing.

Alright guys, I'm trying to decide what to do about something here so your advice would be welcome.
I have decided to cool the vreg and chipset after all as they get hot with little airflow in the rig (big rads covering all the inlets and outlets :D).
The RAM also gets hot, so I've got a few options here and I want opinions and advice.
Loop 1 will always be the CPU on its own with the PA 120.2 and the MCP 655.
Loop 2 is going to be tri-SLI GTX 285s and the chipset/vreg. Right now it's on the MCP655 with a 120.2 and a 120.1. So here are my options:
1) Add the vreg and the chipset to the loop with the tri-SLI and keep everything on the big loop with the two rads. Add a Dominator Airflow fan to the RAM (the OCZ one won't fit)
2) Make a loop for the chipset, vreg and RAM (buy a MIPS RAM block) and use the 120.1 for that loop with my small CPX-1 and then run the tri-SLI off of a 120.2
I'm not sure if option 2 would be able to handle the tri-SLI or not.

Jack, as long as you can get the same temp or lower for the tri-SLI vs stock cooling, I think it's not a problem running them on a single PA120.2 then dedicate the vregs/chipset/ram on the 120.1

Xil is right, while the 120.2 will be close to if not fully saturated, it will do better than stock cooling.
If it were me, I would cool the RAM with a Dominator. Unless you are wanting to do some crazy RAM OCing, the water isn't going to do much, it will only add to the bad ass factor lol.

Your chipset loop should be fine with a 120.1.
I would prefer you use a 120.3 for the GPU's, but I realize you are limited by space. Therefore I would try it and see what you get.:)

I've got a spot-cooling fan on the RAM right now and it's still pretty warm. The thing is, with the PA 120.2s on both intake and exhaust, the airflow over the mobo is minimal, which leads me to want to LC the components.
So you vote for option 1 then?
So far we have
Option 1 - 1
Option 2 - 1
:D
@Bigslappy - thanks bro! It's a fun little rig!

I vote for option 1.
I do not think the video cards or Vreg/chipset really benefit from cooler water. The main point I assume is to get rid of the noisy fans. I know the Vreg/chipset chips and probably the GPUs are designed for really hot temperatures, so any water cooling (great or not) would still be cooler than on air.
Foe reference, I had NB (MCW30), SB (MCW30),two MOSFETs, two 8800GTXs and a STORM CPU all on a PA120.2 with a single DDC pump. I was not overclocking like crazy, but the delta between idle and load was always around 10°C with Yate Ls at around 900 RPMs.

Hmm...well, option 1 is surely kinder to my wallet. The MIPs block comes in around $170 CAD. and I'd have to mod it to fit the tri-channel memory.
The Dominator fan only costs $30 :D

way to ram 20 pounds of shit into a 10 pound bag, but if you ask me, i would just go for the dominator fan

I agree dominator fan with the stickers removed to give it that all black look, Anyways great H2G0 i hope to build one once i get funds together this helped me out with spacing on parts for my psu, overall a GREAT BUILD! 2 Thumbs up!!

Alright, here's my current update (no pics)
1) Due to the heat the vreg puts out, I've ordered the Bitspower waterblock set for this board, so stay tuned for an update of the loop
2) I'm dialling in my 24/7 oc somewhere around 3.9GHz with the RAM at 1628 7-8-7-20 and the bclk at 206. The 20 multi doesn't like me so far. I'm running on 1.325v in bios, which gives me up to 1.36v under load (EVGA's anti-vdroop actually gives you more juice when you need it instead of less )
My current settings pass 20 runs of LinX (Linpack testing)
I'm now testing the RAM with Memtest to see how it does.
Once that happens, I'm going to concentrate on tweaking the voltages down (CPU voltage has bottomed out at 1.325v *bios*, anything lower and it crashes around 15 passes of LinX) I'll tweak each voltage down as low as I can and hopefully that will help me with temps. I'm also going to try bumping bclk bit by bit to see if I can't squeeze things up to the magical 4GHz barrier.

Testing out the lighting with the red CCFL. I've put one under the near window below the acrylic mobo tray and the other above the window. It looks a lot brighter in the pic than it actually is.
I don't like the blue lights on the front :( I need to figure out a way to reverse them so they shine red. They're too damn bright. I remember a mod someone did where they reversed the lights and put something on them to lower the intensity. I need to find that.
Anyway, here are the pics. The CCFL kit comes with a connector for a 3-pin header, so I can control the on/off from the Rheobus for both lights!
I'm not 100% sold on the red...I'm thinking white CCFLs might do better with my black/silver theme.

LOL
I don't have white...;)
It was just an idea...I suppose I could mock up some white with the damn LED on my cellphone :p
Yea I have that sunbeam fan controller, works great, just hate the LED's cuz there so bright...
You can take the LED's out of the sockets tho, pretty easy to do that...
I'll hav eto see if I can reverse them... hmmmm good idea.

Looks good Zlojack. I'm partial to no bright LEDs, but its good to see the Red showing through so well on the H2G0. So now MM needs to come out with a Pedestal add on for the little box. :)

A little update.
My GTX 285 is sitting at home waiting for me!
I should also have the second one by Monday or Tuesday at the latest!
Now I need some blocks for them! So far I've been leaning toward the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU FC blocks.

Got them up and running, but still no waterblocks yet :(
I have them at stock settings (things get hot in that case as it's not exactly set up for optimal air cooling) and they are folding away right now.
There are a few loose ends that I need to tie up and then I should be able to do the next update. Also need my RAM Freezer 5!

Unfortunately, too much power :(
My cooling capacity wasn't up to the i7 challenge, so I'm going for something a little different.
Watch for it soon :crack:

Yea, i know that space issue with the MM h2go, i have the R2E Gene and it's Matx and gives some great space on the other side of the case so i was going to put 2 doubles on the top and a single rad on the bottom and I think that could cool the whole system...
Such a tight squeeze, :coke:
