So then, there really is not a big diffrence between 16x +16x sli and 16x +8x sli?

That depends.....
Keep on mind a few items.....
Depending on the MOBO/RAM/CPU combination, the difference can be nothing or a little. or a lot... And what clocks they are at. For example.... The i7-920 clocked to 3.6-3.8 is similar to the performance of a QX9650 clocked @4.2-4.5 ish.
SO then the next item of change would be what the clocks are of the GPU's... Each GPU is different so I cannot come out here and just say if you clock this card and this MOBO with these parts you will get P35,251. But we can tell if your withing about P1,000 of what we have seen.
Once you have the i7-920 past 4.0GHz and the GPU's at their max clocks.... Then you will start to see the 16x+16x score better over and over...
0-300 points is a very normal variance for the same parts and clocks.
So until you have pushed all the parts out there today to their limit, there is not much of a difference in what slot you use at all.
Just my $.02.......

Overclocked
Slot 1 and 3

Slot 1 and 2

overclocked the difference is visable.... about 1k between the slots
dont mind the cpu clocks on the "slot 1 & 2" test... there was no load so it dropped the multi to 6... cpu was the same for both tests
