Looking forward to seeing more great stuff come to market.

Gonna post something you guys might not know-if you make an ASUS 3 MOSFET equivalent, it fits the Gigabyte UD3 boards as well.

Found that out hunting blocks for my new board, due Mon. or Tuesday.

BP, keep up the great work!

My new board is the X58-UD5 and looking at pics I think it might work for that as well.

I'll let you guys know as I've got the EK blocks.

Thanks for the info Kayin. my future boards would probably be from Gigabyte because its easier to get one in stock than the Asus equivalent from where i am at...

Very cool stuff.

I've seen those gloves you're wearing (post 2, 6th pic down) in a few guys' build logs. What are they made of and what's their purpose?

zlojack
11-21-2008, 07:03 PM
I think those are anti-static gloves.

Those 45's are sexy!

TedShred
11-21-2008, 10:24 PM
ah, anti-static gloves. makes sense.

These fittings are so cool I thought maybe they came with royal-wave gloves and a velvet pillow. ha ha ha... he.. he... um....

I actually have a couple of the BPs, as well as a couple of the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU comp fittings, that I've been playing with alongside some tubing samples to get a feel for things. One thing I notice is that the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU has little cutouts, I imagine so you can use a wrench to tighten the fitting into the block or whatever. While the BP looks to be all hand-tightening. Is it difficult to tighten these fittings down by hand, or is it more the case that going more than hand tightening = overtightening?

Also, one other thing I noticed is that the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU 3/8" 5/8" fittings are a BITCH of a fit into the tubing. The BP's fit nice & easy. Oddly, there's not much of a diff between the two (in that regard) with the 1/2" 3/4" fittings.

<p>Gotta BP question.</p><p>I'm building a new Cosmos 1000 (currently in pieces) and am going with 2 loops and external (triple) radiators.&nbsp; I was thinking of a simple tubing run out the backside through a plate I'm going to make for this, soon to be cut out, meshed area on the back:</p><p> http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/cosmosbackmesh.jpg </p><p>For simplicity, I was thinking of something like this (rig by doox00 @ XS): </p><p>http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/waterbox3.jpg </p><p>'cept 4 tubing passthroughs stacked vertically.&nbsp; But I've always wondered if it wouldn't be a better idea to create a break in the tubing at the passthrough, something like this (also doox00) </p><p align="left">http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/waterbox4.jpg</p><p align="left">doox00 used some some quick-disconnects like these, available from US Plastics&nbsp; (link is really long and seems to screw up the formatting here):</p><p align="left">http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/disconnects.jpg </p><p align="left">I contacted USPlastic for some more details, but then discovered this interesting fitting from BP, which seems to be geared specifically for this kind of thing: </p><p align="left"> http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/big14shsicat.html </p><p align="left">http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/BP-WTP-C04_02.jpg </p><p align="left">(image absconded from PPC's - I don't think the fitting comes with a barb) </p><p align="left">Here's the space I'm working with: </p><p>http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh70/diggermats/PCspace.jpg </p><p align="left">I'm going to literally nail the 2 rads horizontally (maybe a bit askew) between the vertical supports of my indestructible Ikea shelving unit (ok, not literally -&nbsp; gonna make some braces) and run the tubing along the back wall to/from the PC.</p><p align="left">Anyway, the question:</p><p align="left">I'm not very up to speed on fittings/ barbs etc. (especially this one), and was hoping for some comments from y'all about this. Would setting up a 4-tube pass through with these BP's be relatively easy? Beneficial? i.e. as opposed to just a &quot;no-break&quot; passthrough?&nbsp; (eg. would a setup like this help for draining?) What other fittings/barbs would I need to complete such a 4-tube passthrough?&nbsp; (3/8&quot; ID 5/8&quot; OD tubing) </p><p align="left">Any comments on the whole idea would be welcome too.&nbsp; This is my first ever build, so the more info the better. One thing - maybe I should sleeve the external portions of the tubing for better protection against sunlight/ biological growth?&nbsp; Maybe even some kind of wall-mounted device - was thinking of something like just 4 shortened retro-chrome kitchen table legs bonded together.&nbsp; (I'm planning on keeping things relatively shady tho.) </p><p align="left">&nbsp;Thanks,</p><p align="left">&nbsp;(Dam, can everyone else see how many times I've edited this freakin' thing?!) </p><p align="left">&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

TedShred...

That BP fitting is a fill port... I don't think it will work for what you are planning.

zlojack
11-26-2008, 09:45 AM
Don't they have some "pass through" fittings?

TedShred
11-26-2008, 09:52 AM
Hmmmn.... I found it while looking for fillports, but I noticed this in the PPC product description:
..."This is a special fitting that can be used through a case top or panel (through-hole) for such things as fluid fill or continuing the water loop through the panel! (I should have mentioned that)
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=393&products_id=22957
and the Sidewinder descrip mentions that it can be used for a fillport "or fitting through a flat panel."

and I figured they were talking to me:D

Dam, tho, I sometimes completely miss the boat on stuff  so I certainly could be wrong. But don't those quoted phrases indicate that they could be used for a tubing passthrough? :hmm: (There's an emoticon for everything!)

- these were the only fittings from BP (that I saw anyway) that I figured could be used for pass throughs. I think FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU has pci passthrough plates with a couple fittings on them, but they wouldn't really work here.

I am not sure where the fillport idea came from, if that was from bitspower or myself when that was added to our page, but it may need to be removed. The o-ring must seal on that to make it work like a passthrough through a case.

I just ordered one of those low-profile L-fittings from you to hopefully go in my tri-SLI setup as the intake.

(For which I just got the "shipped" email :D )

Thanks Gary. And thanks again for the email. I gotta get up to speed on fittings, so the info is much appreciated.

tedshred, that a bitspower pass through fitting with the picture from PPCs, i have 2 of em (no o-rings on mine) you can attach 2 barbs left and right then attach tubing.

or you could just go for 1 of FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU bulkhead pass through fitting also found on PPCs.

now if only Gary could also stock on some of those FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU quick disconnects...

and if Vincent does come out with his own set of True High Flow Quick Disconnects...

TedShred
11-28-2008, 08:48 AM
Ah, thanks Septim. Makes sense.

Spent a good part of yesterday staring at various fittings (there are LOTS of them). Saw a few FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU ones that would work, I like the quick disconnect ones best. Yeah, it would be awesome if BP had some!

edit: I'm thinking I could connect a couple of the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU female quick disconnects to either side of the BP fitting to create 2 (easily drainable) breaks.

Septim

If I get the male & Female to that with compression fittings on them which one will drain?

TedShred
11-29-2008, 08:16 AM
I saw a BP passthrough plate somewhere (dang, where was that?!), so maybe they're coming out with some passthrough fittings?

Wth the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU quick disconnects, it looks like you'd twist off the male from the female passthrough, suffer a small 5ml or so spill before the flow shuts off, then take out the male fitting from the tube for easy draining. (Not sure that answers your Q Sniper?)

Got some more info on those Colder fittings @ US Plastics. Check out the "HFC" series (looks like the rig in my previous pics used HFC12s):
http://www.colder.com/Products/tabid/693/Default.aspx

TedShred
11-29-2008, 09:32 AM
on second look, the one end of the HFC12 sure looks thin.

and thanks for that link Septim, that's exactly what I was thinkin'. Still, I'm hopin' BP has some passthroughs up its sleeve.
