[p] Got around to posting teh rulez here for you all...I will update these standings from time to time, but the 411 standings will be updated 2x a day.

Hey all! We are having a small overclocking contest at the 411 and have been granted permission to invite anyone here who wishes to participte.

This competition is what we call a LOW CLOCK competition, meaning there are speed limits on the Ghz that you may run in a given class. We did it like this so that people on air cooling could compete right along side the water/dice/ln2s and such. We will be having a Dual Core Class, a Quad Core Class, and an i7 Class. However, we also have a UX (extreme anything goes) class for those of you who want to go all out with whatever you may have, and a Celeron/Single Core class for giggles.

We will be running two benchmarks, Cinebench (CPU depedent), and 3DMark '01 (both CPU and GPU dependent).

CineBench Rules!
This is a CPU bench so there will be no gpu based class's!
Download available here! http://www.maxon.net/index.php?id=162&L=0

5 Catagories: Dual, Quad, i7, UX, and last but not least the Celeron/Single Core(aka the kicks and giggles class).

Speeds are 4Ghz Max for Dualies and i7's, 3.8Ghz Max for Quads. UX and CELERON classes have no speed limit.
You can use any multiplier and fsb/qpi combination, however the CPU speed may not be higher than the limit for your class.

Each score submission needs 2 CPU-Z tabs open one on memory and one on CPU. Obviously also include the benchmark itself. Examples will be provided.

At the Top of each post please inform which catagory the score was for and provide some system information, for easy identification! Submissions that do not meet the criteria will be warned, have 48hrs to fix or then be deleted.

Only run the Multi CPU test in Cinebench, no others.

UPDATE! You may run either teh 32bit or the 64bit version of this bench on whatever OS you like, be it 32 or 64 bit. FYI.

3DMark '01 Rules!
Download available here! 3DMark '01 DownLoad Here (http://www.overclock.net/downloads/294007-3dmark01-se.html)

5 Catagories: Dual, Quad, i7, UX, and last but not least the Celeron/Single Core(aka the kicks and giggles class).

There will be TWO GPU catagories Single and Multiple. Dual GPU cards will be considered Mutiple cards for this contest, to ensure those who don't have $400 "sli/crossfire on a stick cards" have a chance. 3DMark '01 does not appear to scale above 2 GPU die's so if your running Tri/Quad Sli/Cfx you may do better with one or more of the cards disabled.

Run the full 3dMark '01 TEST!

CineBench Submissions will be taken in this thread:

3Dmark '01 Submissions will be taken in this thread:

Follow the template as much as possible as seen in that thread. Please attach your screenshot using the attach feature at the bottom of the posting box, then hit the "place inline" button. Our forum software is a bit different than here so I will work with you on that as long as I have a link to the screenshot. You may submit as many times as you would like, but please...don't go crazy, I have to validate all of them, just submit the good ones.

For me to keep all this organized you will have to post them in those threads ^^^, which will require an account, sorry, but there is no way I can manage submissions from two (now three) forums. Please, submissions only in those threads...keep the conversation and chatter for this thread here (the one you are reading)...or...

This competition will last until Midnight May 30th, CST. There are no prizes or anything like that atm (Update...we might have prizes from eVga...not set in stone yet though), just for fun (and Spartan respect). It's just a good chance to learn about the world of competitive Overclocking! Don't cheat, have a good time, and if you need any help let me know.

Last thing: If you don't agree with the rules thats fine, don't compete, they are not up to negotiation. This is supposed to be a fun, learning expieriance..don't get too serious. I will edit this post as needed if minor changes need to be made, but the spirit of the competition will remain the same.

This isn't a Ghz challenge, it's a benchmark challenge. I assure you, every member of the 411 exceed the speed limits set by the contest in dramtic fasion...this is about tweaking OS, RAM, FSB...etc. If your quad can do 3.8Ghz, you have just as much of a chance as anyone.

Good luck! :D

If you wish to submit a bench you will have to do it in this thread...
http://www.411overkill.com/forum/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=156

in the proper area and with the proper format.

My staff and I have a hard enough time keeping track and keeping them all in order on one forum...no way we could manage submissions from two forums! Sorry for the inconveniance.

Thankyou all!

You will be in 6th in about 15 minutes...I was running XP32 just to get some numbers up when I was kicking things off...Vista64 went the gun yesterday. Makes a BIG difference, I just haven't had a minute to submit. I think your running good though, with a low clock challenge it's all about FSB/RAM timings and OS tweaks. GL!

My issue is going to be hitting 3.8 though. Why cant quads be limited to 3.6 lol

More voltage, I don't see any reason that system can't push your quad to 3.8ghz. As far as EE CPUs, they aren't all that and a bag of chips, I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a 45nm quad with a decent multiplier. I got it used as part of a parts trade, I'd have a hard time spending that kind of money on a new CPU...one that in all likelyhood I'm gonna kill on a dice run.

Oh well! My 4890s should be here towards the end of the week and I have some golden 1200mhz Patriots showing up tonight...should be good fun with my e8600!

My last kick ass 775 system...kind of sad, as soon as Summer Wars is over it all gets retired to crunchin/folding duty. :(

Im already pushing 1.5125V through the CPU! How much more should I need for 3.8?! :crack:

Is that actual volts or the BIOS setting floyd?
I'm with you though, my q6600 didn't really like it up around 3.8 and mine was a g0.

I think around 3776 or something like that was the highest I could get.

it'll be safe up to 1.55 volts and higher though. Give it a try.

I'm gonna try a run tonight when I get home, just to be an ass.

Since I have to run in Unlimited, I'm gonna get some ice out on this bitch.

Ice, not DICE.

Scores updated!

Sorry we have no class for you...next time we put one of these on we will include more classes. We are using this as our practice for the upcoming Summer Warz...sorry to say (I'm not kidding I love AMD) they are just not competitive.

We went round and round about what level to put the quads at...we finally settled at 3.8Ghz. Everyone can do 3.6, I wanted 4.0, so we found some center ground.

Most q6600s start to get iffy at 3.7ghz, that said...give that little slut about 1.58-1.62 and you would be surprised what she will do. Crank FSB too!

Ive put 1.73 to my q6600 on water...she was hot, but she lived. The tests really shouldn't be that bad. Its all about tweaking. For Cinebench, the entire test is maybe a minute long, so I'm sure you can keep it chilly for that long. As for 3dMark'01, hell turn off all the cores except 1 or 2 (will save heat & voltage needed) and give it a shot. Old ass bench like that doesn't know what to do with a quad. :) It still goes in the quad class though..FYI.

we'll see on noncompetitive.

Besides, at least we could run against each other.

hehe I gave my q6600 about 1.6 volts, crashed again, got the overvolt warning and decided I didn't wanna buy another one. It's been sitting at 3.6 ever since and now my wife uses it. lol

But you're right. I've seen people give them some stOOpid amounts of voltage and they live. The q6600 is a damned strong chip.

Yup...all the 65nm quads can take stupid voltage. The 45nm aren't as weak as people think either. Everyone is crying about 1.46v, lol, they can take way more than that. Not someting you want to do 24/7/365...but it's fine for a benchy.

Wonder where my submission is...

I'm working on it right now...trying to figure out where to put the darn thing. 3 core is so unusual. I can't put you in the duals core category, you dont have a chance against the quads or i7s...so I'm trying to be fair about it and come up with something logical.

Right now I'm leaning towards simply making an open AMD class. You have any thoughts?

I stand a decent chance against the quads, actually. 200 points is something that the extra 200 MHz that the Quad class allows me would make up. I might not score first, but to even get close with a core less is a damn strong showing.

Open AMD might show you some interesting things. I mean, it's been how long and AMD still holds the '06 record?

Trust me, I am in no way an AMD hater. I just purchased 2 4890s and would love to pair them up with a BE...but the motherboard support is lacking, and at the end of the day...the i7 is still gonna murder.

I hope to God AMD get's it together and hammers Intel. Variety is the spice of life.

I have created an AMD class and updated rules on all forums.

Per request I have extended a catagory to all the AMD guys. There is no speed limit in the AMD class.

AMD guys may still submit to the dual core, quad core, and UX classes if they wish, as long as they are within the set speed and core requirements. Or they may submit simply to the AMD category...along with given GPU requirements.

Thanks hope this helps out TEAM RED. We have 1 AMD submission at this piont, and it a very strong score given it came from an X3 core Phenom II.

Good Luck ladies! I'll be benching all night (my 4890s came in.) So if you have any questions regrding the AMD class feel free to post away.

You are now on the board here, at 411, evga, and TRP.

Kayin, there mush be a GPU-z window in your SS for 3D benchies. CCC will not cut it. Your on the board, but pending another run with GPU-z in your sceeny.

FYI, 4GPUs suck in 3dMark '01, try disabling one card and making another pass, I bet your score improves.

Ive decided not to try again until I get bumped from the list. Too many people have better quads or extremes for me to even try with a Q6600.

Am I missing something? Why are the other people in the quad/ multi card for 01 getting more than double my score? Did I mess up a setting or something?
