BP Vs. DD fittings

Not trying to start a war or anything, im just wondering what makes BP fittings so great when they look almost exactly like my old DD fittings.
The only difference I could see is that the BP had a ever so slight increase in the ID. The exterior looks just the same.

Again im just wondering if anyone else noticed this before.
