Alright I'm getting ready to place my order with Ben hopefully soon after the new year but I have a few questions for you guys.
1) as you can see from the poll above what do you think the best looking finish would be on a X-Ascension case?
2) I've looked all over the MM website but I can't seem to be able to find out how thick the the bottom panel is. As a few of you have noticed I plan on mounting a A/C compressor to the bottom.
Thanks guys.

So I assume you mean an Air Conditioner compressor. If that is the case, yes it will hold, although it may bow just slightly. You could reinforce it with a cross bar from one corner to the other in a "X" fashion. I am doing a chiller right now and I thought about putting it in the bottom of the case since I had a pedestal, but I lack the skills to capture the freon and charge it back, plus I do not have the tools to braze copper together. Anyway, I went with an external box, check out my log "Look Ma, No Rads" and you will see what I did. The box could have been smaller, but when I was planning it I had some other ideas that I changed after the box was built.
Anyway, hope that helps.

question #2 ALU 1/2" channel OR angle will reinforce just fine & also give a good bolt down place for the compressor H pattern OR just a pair across as long as u tie them into the case edges well , that will lesson the vibration as well

his black anodized finish is absolutely the most gorgeous finish Ive ever seen on a computer, period. However black does get old after a while... I might go brushed for my next one and then have it anodized in a custom color.

I'm looking at getting the black wrinkle. Everytime I see it I want it!
All my cases so far have been either gloss black or brushed so I want something different.

Anodized black all the way!
The one he did for me was black gloss, and is beautiful, but you can't compare anything to his Anodized black.

I think he binds it to the metal with a level 10 binding spell and then seals it with +10 to idiot resistance, I even had a uni-bit slip and slam into it and it didnt even leave a mark D:

Each finish has its pros and cons - no single "best"
Really it comes down to what appeals to you the most but here are some traits to consider:
Powder Coat:
slightly increases material thickness by adding a layer of paint.
at the surface the powder undergoes a chemical bond during the
cooking stage and so its hard to distinguish where the ALU ends
and the powder begins.
Anodized: ALU gets put into a chemical bath with electrical currents sent through it. This bath/electricity causes the surface to oxidize very quickly. The oxidation of aluminum leaves a very hard surface. That is why oxidized aluminum is used in many sand papers. There is no addition of material. To make color a dye is introduced to the bath and is absorbed into the top layer during the oxidation.
Individual powder differences:
Mirror black = 100% gloss rating. It is a very rich, deep black, that is extremely reflective. I call it the rock-n-roll finish as it looks awesome. Downside of the 100% gloss reflective black = micro-scratching. This appears like a scuff on the gloss black. It is a slight abrasion at the surface layer. It is very difficult to scratch into the ALU as it is with all powder coated ALU, but these surface scratches can occur rather easily. One must use a 100% cotton cloth or microfiber cloth to clean the surface. Any abrasive material will cause these surface scratches to appear. The finish is also susceptible to finger prints. If your hands are even slightly oily there will be prints. Both of these things can be controlled with use of laytex gloves or cleaned with non abrasive car wax + cotton/microfiber cloth.
Black Wrinkle: Very low gloss, textured, and rugged.
Does not yield micro scratches and only the greasiest of fingers will show any prints. Again the surface can be cleaned easily. Just a sponge and water works well here.. where it might scratch the mirror black.
anodized black: Again very durable and hard surface. Shows fingerprints if you have moderate/heavily oiled skin.
If you want to know whats the most durable probably:
Black Wrinkle and Anodized black.

anodization is nice, but from what I know from powdercoating, it's much tougher.
Someone on here has a custom green mountain mods case.. it's beyond sick.
Anodizing adds a few grams (3-4 grams) but powdering will give it some more weight, no question.
Fyi, if you want to see some very nice bike art (anodizing and painting, check this out)

This is skill (on titanium)

Of course, you learn something new everyday
5. Can you anodize my bike red?
No. There is no red in titanium anodizing. The colors are very specific. Each one corresponds to its own voltage. The lowest voltage color is gold. After that is purple, then dark blue, light blue, clear, yellow, pink and chartreuse green. As you go up in voltage you go down in surface area.In other words it’s easier to make the whole bike gold then it is to make it pink.

I like custom powder coats the best. I think it's the feel and texture as well as the looks that I like. Anodized I do not like the feel or texture and I usually powder coat over anodized parts. I use to use spray cans before but after going through my first powder coat I did not look back and have been doing that since.
