Naked Core i7

I need pics of a delidded or "naked" Core i7 for something I"m cooking up. Anyone have such a thing yet?

Found what I needed. Props to Solaris17 at techPowerUp for the find.

For those you wondering, no I will not be delidding the i7. I do however have some waterblock mods waiting to happen, and I needed to know the exact point where the IHS makes contact.

I don't think you'll be able to get it off without a turbine powered hot-air system. AFAIK Intel has be soldering on it's IHS's for a while now.

How extreme is this setup that a lapping wont due?


When I was in need of some Naked dominator ram (after pulling off the dominator heatsink with the RAM chips still attached - lol) I just contacted Corsair.
They not only offered the naked RAM but they even ended up sponsoring my project giving me the RAM and a HX1000 for Prometheus.

No one is going to remove the IHS.

I asked for pictures because I wanted to know where the IHS and chip made contact due to some waterblock modding I have plans for.

IIFC, they removed the IHS after they killed the chip..... removing the IHS on these monsters spells disaster anyways.
