I killed my mac lately doing this. Overheated, poor bugger. Guess that one little 20mm fan wasnt meant to cool a dual core at 100% constantly for forever. It gave up the blue smoke. Good news is I get a free replacement, LOL.

Well that's good that you get a replacement. I never had any problems running WCG on laptops. I had about 5 Lenovo dual core laptops that used to run this 24/7 for about a month. They did get quite toasty, but never had any issues. I hope everything works out for you!

Not bad, that will pump out some results quicker than you think. I have a Q9550 and a Q6700. Q6700 is down right now while I rebuild my main rig, but it runs at 3.3. The Q9550 is in my machine at work and it runs at 3.0.

i7 is a beast when it comes to crunching. For a rough reference, Q6600 @ 3.6 will generate an average of 15k-20k Points Per Day. i7 @ 3.6 will generate an average of 25k-35k Points Per Day.

Log into worldcommunitygrid.com, click on My Grid. Then click on My Team. Towards the bottom of the page you can sort through various filters to see the entire team. Play around in the "My Grid" section, there's a lot of cool stuff there. You can setup profiles for your cruncher to do more specific research, you can even set them up so that BOINC takes advantage of your CPU and utilizes 100% of it. You can do all this through the local app as well, but the "My Grid" section has some pretty cool stuff when you look around.

Nice, big ole slice of pie. I was actually surprised to see all the points come over so quickly. Even though the WU's were completed, points don't count until they are validated via a quorum I guess.

So this be a great new home for my farm. Glad to help the team out, we'll have a lot of fun together. And to the team members with less output, don't be discouraged. Every single bit helps just as much as the output from heavy hitters. That's how a good WCG team works. Just keep plugging along and adding crunchers as time goes by and you'll be up towards the top before you know it. Get your friends to help you out by getting on the grid via your account. I don't do it, but it's done all the time, a great way to get other involved and helps the team out as well as your own output and points.

well...I just checked..I had about 30 in "inconclusive" all off my best cruncher, but looks like a bunch just got released, so I may see a good bump today.

Luckily, I only do FAAH and HCC which only need two for a quorum, but some of the others are like 14 out of 16, or at least they were.

And I get hosed to death on some of by big quads on claimed/granted points, but it's all good.

There are two sets of numbers.

The one set we watch every day is BOINC, that's the one with the pie charts and all that.

The other set of numbers is WCG, which you can find here (https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyMemberPage.do).

Now, I've never gotten a 100% clear picture of why the two aren't tied in together, or how the points are really calculated. I know your BOINC score is only a fraction of your WCG score, I'm not sure why.

Maybe mcoffey could enlighten us?

You get 7 WCG points for every BOINC points, is the simplest way to describe it. Obviously your BOINC won't be 1/7 of your WCG points if you do other projects.

It's kind of weird how I view or use WCG and Boinc points. I use Boinc point to see how I'm doing in the team and global ranking (or against other people), but always use WCG points to access my output and averages. I guess that because WCG points are an exact 24 hour total, and shows how each box and overall daily points are climbing.
