gtx285 artifacting help

So I got my 285gtx a few days ago, and my waterblock hasn't gotten here yet, so I haven't really done any overclocking, but I ran ati tool yesterday and today in windows 7 and it gives a lot of artifacting. Look at the picture. However, I haven't seen any artifacting in a game yet, which I find to be odd. I even ran Vantage and I ran through 4 loops of proxyconn or whatever its called in 3dmark03 and couldn't see any artifacting. The artifacting in ati tool only seems to go away if I down clock the memory from stock at 1269 to the lowest setting 955. This seems like a big gap. Now if I go above 1400 the screen goes crazy and eventually locks up, which seems somewhat normal. I tried turning the fan to 100% and the gpu memory temps were low 40s I think. It just seems weird that I cannot seem to get artifacting in games when I get it ati tool, usually its the other way around :confused: Also I have never had a card that artifacted with lines like you can see in the picture, usually it was artifacting in clumps.
What do you guys run to stress the memory of these newer cards for artifacting...?
