hi guys,
didnt know there was a RX480 coming, but it seems it has been listed @ PPCS
thats the only shop i've seen that stocks the rad as far as i know. it isnt even listed on XSPC's website (http://www.xspc.biz/rx.php)
here's the link to PPCS' page (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=25390)
even googling it leads to no results so i think its a new product :D

I'm sure it is new, but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole until I knew the QC was good. Which as far as I know, hasn't been on any new major piece XSPC gear. The new RX line of rads being the latest XSPC fuck up when they first came out. And I'm not talking about cheesy half ass paint, I'm talking about the bad fan hole spacing that rendered mounting the rad useless.
So I'd recommend holding off on getting one unless you wanted to role the dice.

Funny, My rx240 is finished just fine.
But like mcoffey says the fan holes are a little off. Just enough to give you trouble, but I was able to to mount it to a radbox off the back of my case with no prob like I planned. Nice and sturdy. The fans were a little tough to mount, but I got them mounted too nonetheless.
They could use some improvement, but in all seriousness they still work fine, and look good in the end. I got mine from Petra's. I could have payed a lot more and got a rad with the holes lined up, but how much better function will I get than what i already got?
Not much.
Might not be for everyone, but it is what it is. I think function-wise, it's a great rad.

My RS360 chipped like a mofo. It's also skinnier than the MCR320.
As for this rad, it looks good. However for that price all I can say is MoRa

I kno this is a random bump
But blow up the picture....is it me or do i see photochop on the fan spacing between the 1st and 2nd 120mm (1 being towards the G1/4s)? (looks like the watermark is trying to hide it)
The first 120 also looks longer and not the same color (looks darker)
Edit: Added a paint photo below

lol I think your right it definately looks off.....The top is darker and isnt the same width as you stated...
Oh why do Feser and XSPC feel the need to state the whole "Thermochill Killer" I call failure on their part...

Fucking hate PPC after that fail photoshop. So where do you all pick up your coloured tubing? Why don't Sidewinder stock them?
Langer
04-05-2009, 06:07 PM
Because men color their tubes with Blood!
PetrasTechShop has a couple options, probally the next best retailer after Sidewinders, NCIX is a close third imo.
FrozenCPU has great selection, but the prices can be on the high side and shipping is UPS only.

LOL You guys no nothing :).
They is no pictures of the 480 yet, not even left the factory :), first one is expecte to hit the uk some time the end of the week :).
And paint is'nt fucked up and Spacing is'nt either, They we're just the first batch and is all sorted. The only rad with fucked up spacing and paint is the thermochill.
And on the thermochill killers bit, both manufacturers don't tell them to do it. It's all the Venders :).

Mcoffey bought one when they first were released. The fucking fan holes aren't lined up correctly. You assume ALL RISKS YOURSELF when you purchase XSPC products (other than pump tops). Yep, to each their own, but here's the bottom line for me. No sense buying cheap ass shoddy stuff from a manufacturer that doesn't give a shit about the products they make, or the vendors and customers that buy them.
There's nothing XSPC sells that I can't get as good if not better at a fair price from another manufacturer. So I'm done with them. They got me twice, but they won't get a shot at the third time.

Tuff one for me i must admit.
Paul the owner of XSPC is a good buddy and only live 10 miles up the road and i know for a fact the guy is trying his hardest but the main problem he has is being located in the UK and getting parts manufactured out East.
I personally know how hard that is plus he's competing with big hitters so i'm prepared to cut the guy some slack and wish him luck for the future.

We never said anything about Paul personally, just informing people that XSPC has little/to no QA/QC on the products that they sell. XSPC should have ALL products shipped to the UK for inspection, prior to being sent to vendors for resell. That would be the proper way to run a business...:fact:

I totally agree in an ideal world but Paul like me is not a rich man and is only trying his best in these otherwise negative times.
He didn't set out to make inferior products, nor is he in it for a quick buck but more so the long haul so i wish the guy all the best and hope he can overcome the initial teething problems that most new business's face.

Until his business model changes and product quality improves, my stance rightfully stays unchanged.

Agreed Red, but I'd have to see some pretty miraculous changes before I'd ever trust them again, and that doesn't usually happen with a business set up the way XSPC is as a pass thru for third party sub par manufacturing.
And I'm sure Paul's a good guy with his hands full, nothing personal, strictly business.

Yes, on my rx240 the holes were SLIGHTLY off, but nothing that stopped m from installing fans, or mounting the rad.
The paint on it was fine though, and it works great.
I don't know what generated the hate (lol) and while i agree with you on the waterblocks because I think they suck too, I have no problem with my rad at all. In fact i am really happy with it. I would probably buy another if the need comes up.

OK...I'll go out on a limb and say the pictures fake, it's the picture they received from XSPC, there is a 480 XSPC Rad available, it's in stock and P-PC's has it for sale.
Rarely do vendors take there's own pics, at least not P-PC's. They get them from the manufactures.

All issues have been resovled, and all models which was affected, are ones that was brought from china, company which sells on behalf of paul and not via paul. all ones that paul sold that came though the uk was fine.

Radiator Paint and Screws - 22/05/09
We are in the process of changing the paint on our RX and RS radiators from a gloss finish to a matt finish. This is due to some reports from customers of the gloss finish getting marked in during shipping. The screw size will also be changed from M4 to 6-32 on the matt finish radiators.

I don't understand what M3 and M4 are. When I went to home depot they didn't list any screws like that, but the screws that fit my thermochill were #6 sheet metal screws. Maybe that means M6? Hell, I don't know but they worked anyway.

M Screws are metric threaded, witch means, the screw and the insert has a thread, so you can use it lots of times, with no problem, and it makes getting longer and shorter screws really easy.
