Picked up a crystal fontz lcd/fan controller from ebay for super cheap $49.50 shipped (the guy has 118 or so of them)
4 channel fan controller, 1.5 amps each (20 yate loons :)
can daisy chain 32 thermal sensors
can use swissflow on one of the fan controllers
green small display. 2 line
serial (not usb).. comes with cable for motherboard.
black surface (no crystal fontz logo)
Crystal font software is free and very nice.
Wish he had more colors than green, but he doesn't.

That's a nice ass package right there. I think they're the best controlers out there. At that price, they damn sure can't be beat IMO.
I think I'll pick up a couple, I already have a 635.

Martin uses them for his testing. The little thermal sensors are around $1-3 a piece on ebay.
Dallas DS18B20. They are digital, so no matter how many you daisy chain together, the unit locks in each one.
Andy, darn you watercoolers.. I know I'm going to spend 5 hours sleeving and creating a 10 thermal sensor nightmare :o

That sounds great. I didn't realize you could daisy chain temp sensors.
So those little sensors must be pretty good. What do you use to stick 'em on your components? All the sensors on my TT Hardcano temp sensor fell off pretty quick with just the included tape.(I'd say fan controller, but it doesn't do that at all). I was thinking of spot-gluing them, but lost interest when I started planning out a new rig.

I'm sure you can use a tiny tiny dab of epoxy or superglue on heatinks..
For inside delrin or resevoirs, It's best to use epoxy so it doesn't leak.

I'm seriously considering one of these Eddie for a future bench rig... :duece: :hmm:

Might as well get one for tinkering.. Remember this is serial though.. 780i has that option, but not sure about future motherboards.
fuck me how i despise ebayers who gouge on shipping costs to canada.
he is charging $35usd to ship a little box to canada.ripoff, for us canuckleheads

yeah, that's the only thing I don't like is the daisy changed sensors, but they are the most accurate right now, so it is what it is I guess.

Might as well try to split shipping with someone in the states, since it's only 50cents more for the 2nd unit on shipping.
How much could it be to send with slow shipping to canada.. $8-10 from the post office?
anytime i purchase from usa,i always get it tracked,
usually usps ems service.$20 would be a fairer charge for shipping imo

I've had good luck so far with non-tracked USPS shipments...especially from Sidewinder.
Gary's been great with me.

This one is a serial controller. They also make USB versions.
In terms of the conversion, I'm not sure.

When I boot the crystal fontz it shows HW 1.3 and FW 1.5
So I'm assuming this is an older model since the HW is now 1.5 I believe.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up just in case..

Does anyone know where I can find this cable?
The crystal fontz come with this internal to internal serial cable, but my p35c board only has a serial connector that goes in the back.

I think this is what you need. There is a cables thread in the crystalfontz forum.
