When is INTEL going to release the fucking core i7 920 - D0 stepping ??

I thought they said it would be shipping early March...:bird:

ETA 3/23. This date is NOT firm, and is based solely on the limited information we have gotten. We will work to get them in as quickly as humanly possible, but we do not have an absolute date yet.

(I see no reason to wait, seen nothing that convinces me D0 is THAT good.)

If TankGuys had a few, then newegg probably had some. No guarantees on getting one, and it's more likely than not you won't.

I just wanna see you get your system running.

Even with D0, overclocking is down to individual chip strength. Some B1s obliterated G0 Q6600s. And, you would have to tweak and tune for max effect, and at that point, they may end up the same. Yes, new steppings historically perform better, but experience and persistence often pay off where lack of stepping occurs.

My $0.02, enjoy it as you may.

I hear claims that it will run cooler. But I wonder how much of that will be reset or calibrating the DTS sensors as opposed to actually reducing the wattage and heat dump from those beasts.

Be easy enough to find out once they become available and I get one on the bench. Be interested to see what you come up with once you get yours.

im hoping to get a new D0 stepping soon so i can oc it higher than my current i7.

I do i have a very low VTT chip though :)

I hate all of you that have good local part suppliers! The ONLY place left in UT that sells components is Best Buy and I refuse to shop with those dimwits.

Your best buy might but mine doesn't :/

For me, when I can get one easily and at a decent price, I'll do it. But I ain't getting caught up in that "first to have" thing on a simple stepping upgrade.

I really don't think it's going to be that big a deal or updrade. It's already easy enough to get a 40-50% OC on the C0 with LC which I think is fantastic. Realistically, can't expect a lot more when the base clocks are still the same. But I guess we'll see soon enough.

I'm going to refrain until I see more.
But they do look promising.
