Im not that smart on CPUs. The price is usally what i look at. But the whole 8 core and 6 core is taking my attention. I thought there only was quad core.

But anyway what chip would be best ??? I game for the most. Is their another Am3 or am3 processor that would be better ?

I haven´t readed a whole lot about the new 8 core cpu´s, but i can easy say that they are underperforming looking in the back mirror what AMD told us they should be.... Sadly they just aint that.... They are fine for a consumer point of view, a cheap 8 core cpu, wow.... But it ends just about there.... I would rather want an old 955 or 965 4 core.... And thats even if the new 8 cores only was 10 dollars more expensive....

If you haven´t got a motherboard yet, find a cheap p67/z68 and an i5 2500k, give it something to run for about the 4,3-4,4 ghz is more than enough and you got a motherboard/cpu combo thats going to follow you a long time...

Then would you say Am3 or Am3+ ???? money is not really an issue

The Intel 25/2600(k) still kills the 8-core AMD chips. If your going to get an AMD one, I'd get a BullDozer one

Since this is your primary motivation the FX-8150 will be better. Not by a shit ton, but it will be equal to the i5/i7 2500/2600/2700k CPUs.

All the benchmarks i have been looking at about the 8 core cpu´s, the intel 2500k kills it in gaming... and even more when you OC....

The AMD 8 core cpu´s is a fail. And if money is not the problem then go intel.

AMD lost this round:)

Do yourself a favor and go with Intel. Intel's quad cores beat out AMD's 8:bird: any day of the week.

how about the Intel Core i7 950 ?

how about the Intel Core i7 950 ?

The i5 2500K is the best bang for the buck, it's just as good as the i7 2600K as far as gaming is concerned. The i7 2600K is better if you use photoshop, video editing, etc, etc.

Go with the Sandy Bridge, don't go with i7 950, it uses the 1366 socket. The new sockets are 1155 (Sandy Bridge), and you'd be better off spending the extra cash on the i7 2600K, but I'm telling you from helping my bro-in-law build, the i5 2500K really does shine and it's only a little over $200, which in my opinion is a steal.

If you want to wait a bit for the new Ivy Bridge, you can, but those processors seem like they are going to cost an arm and a leg, and the performance gain doesn't seem to be worth the price, in my opinion.

This is good advice.

This is good advice.

Thanks...
The Bulldozer was a flop.

Ever since the Core 2 Duo's came out, I've stuck with Intel ever since.

I forgot to add, the i5 2500K does not support Hyperthreading, but the i7 2600K does.
