Don't bother with this horrible game. There is nearly no instruction on how to use the interface, item descriptions are vague at best, and those are the good things about the game.

The worst part about this game isn't that it's story-heavy and the fighting involves as much skill as smashing your head against a wall, but that makes up a pretty good bit of it. I mean that's like trying to make a PG-13 version of a porno film, lots of heavy panting and no real action.

The worst part of this game is that it's story heavy, and quite often you are left with no direction as to what to do next, or where your next location might be. The quest system is ambiguous at best, and completely worthless at worst.

To tie it all up in one of the worst bows I've ever seen, the graphics engine is horribly un-optimized, making it worse than Crysis 2 to try and play at any kind of decent frame-rate without completely destroying the game, and even then the graphics are nothing to right home about.

If you are really interested in this game, wait till it hits the $1 value bin at Gamestop, you won't have to wait long.

Haha. Cutty, normally I would just pass on by, but I have to completely disagree with your "review".

First of all, the game is not in the same "cookie-cutter, I could beat it while masturbating, cooking, and drinking a beer at the same time" as many other shit games that we have been used to seeing. Secondly, the controls are really not that difficult.

If you started playing it on the hardest difficulty without having any experience with the control system then you got what you fucking deserved. Another fact about the game is that it is absolutely beautiful. One of the most visually appealing games I have ever seen.

Why are you complaining about a story driven game???? Are you in the vein of all the other CoD dickheads out there that can enjoy a game unless there is absolute chaos going on around them. It is a fucking RPG, so wander around and figure the shit out :bird:.

About the graphics, WTF hardware are you playing it with? How about you do a little reading, set the graphics settings to the proper levels and enjoy the game. I ran the game with a single 580 and then with my SLI'd 580's and yes there was a slight difference to the smoothness, but nothing to write home about.

The game is a very well done TRADITIONAL RPG. Stop your fucking whining and enjoy it. If the game is running shitty on your computer, then guess what, fix your shit. Yes, the game has some bugs, but the developer has been very good about releasing updates to fix many of them.

I say :HTFU:

lol to each their own. I think it's a pile. For god's sake the fucking rocks in the game are shiny like they've been waxed. If you call that realism then I suggest you get outside more.

Also I have no problem with a story driven RPG, I have a problem with a story driven RPG that gives you no direction whatsoever as to what the fuck you need to do to progress the story line so you don't end up wandering around aimlessly for hours. I actually really enjoy story-driven RPG's, and just like I did this time, I most often play them on the easiest setting, so there is less focus on repeating battles and more focus on the actual story. At the same time, I expect the enemy to at least swing at me once in a while and not die from me just spamming attacks on them xD.

Other sites are giving this an 8-9/10 rating, so I'm sure I'm in the minority of people that think this game is utter shit, but I stand by my opinion. That doesn't make me right, it just means I th ink the game is shit :p

Hey Red, believe it or not, videos of RRTech plays are not the answer to all questions and/or debates :p

XD

Also, my little girl started school, her school has names on all of the hallways, and her classroom is on Red Raider Drive, had to think of you on that one bro.

Agree with all the above points. It really grew on me, but has a high hardware entry fee.

Just my 2 cents here, judging only from what I have heard. As Snyxx says it does have a hardware entry fee,but I can't fault a game for raising the hardware bar.I have also heard that it is a very demanding game to play, which to me, is good news.I have heard nothing but favorable reviews, Cutty's negative review is the first one I've heard. It is on my list of games to purchase.I'll wait till it is cheaper,I've got enough games that I haven't even played yet.
Cheers

I'd agree with a lot of your points Cutless, but it's essentially by design. The European market for RPGs (specifically Germany, although the game was made in Poland) are interested in more difficult and realistic RPGs without handholding. If you look at the initial few Gothic games, or the Nehrim mod for Oblivion you'll get some sort of appreciation. A major aspect of these games is that you can basically nerf your character, something that most other RPGs will never allow you to do. The combat is hard to get into at first, but it boils down to 'don't mash your right mouse button and actually use timing'.

Overall, the game is alright once you get into it, but it's certainly not something like Mass Effect levels of ease.

DO NOT READ DOWN IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ SPOILERS ABOUT THIS GAME

My biggest problems with this game are the lack of explanation of controls and options.

For instance, during your first "fist fight" with the guard in the prologue, you see shit flashing on the screen, and there is no "press the right key at the right moment to perform kick ass moves" direction. It takes a while to figure out wtf is showing up on the screen, and what you need to do.

Then you get to things like arm wrestling, with absolutely NO instruction whatsoever on how they work.

And like the dice game, they don't call it dice poker until MUCH later in the game, and I was playing on the assumption that it was highest sum of the numbers on the dice wins.

Or take for instance that they game NEVER TELLS YOU that you can press left-ctrl to open a screen that will let you choose your sign, or that meditation is even a fucking option, or that you can pass the time manually while meditating, or that you have to meditate in order to drink potions.

Not to mention I keep getting gypped out of gear from quests. For instance I just played the guy you get the spear-head from, and I supposedly got a sword and some armor, and I didn't. That's kind of a big deal. Even if I try to craft some items, like the robust kaedwanian sword, it never shows up in my inventory.

I don't mind an open-ended story-driven RPG, but if you aren't even going to explain to me what tools I have at my disposal, and then gyp me out of good gears, you can take your game and shove it up your ass.
