These are a very interesting concept!

I've just ordered 2 of these MCR320 stackable rads which I will stack with two of the regular MCR320s for a total of four rads to help cool my new build.

I get the feeling that, for pretty much the same space requirements and the same money, we could be getting a nice performing solution here.

YOu can't think of two stacks as four rads dude... its two enhanced rads. Just like SLI is no longer two video cards but one better video card. There's scaling involved, in the sense that a stack will not perform as well as two separate rads. Even then...

It'll work, but "work" is a relative term.

How much additional thermal overhead do you think you need?

Not any different than a Blackice GTX model. 2-Pass radiator ... 1st pass runs the full length on the back half of the rad while the 2nd pass runs the full length of the front half of the rad. Two rads sandwiched together in a single housing.

I'm aware of that. It was a poor choice of words on my part. Four physical MCR320s stacked. So basically two rad stacks.

It's not 100% scaling.

Anyway, I'm going to try this out. I'd still bet on stacked MCR320s beating another 360 rad. I guess we'll see.

I wonder if three of these stacked together could cool an i7 920 and three GTX 285's.

I think once you get past a certain point you will see diminishing returns.

I'm going to use two stacked for an i7 920 on its own.

Well considering I see people cool Q9770's and dual GTX 295's with a single MCR220 I think three of these would work better lol.

"Cool" them to what extent? With what kind of overclocks?

I had a PA 120.2 on my i7 and temps were too high for me.

lol "cool" to an extent that idiots go gaga over it cuz its "liquid cooled" :P

Mine should be here in a few days...I'll be sure to post pics.

i wonder who'd do this first:

ultra kaze : mcr320 : ultra kaze : mcr320 : ultra kaze

any takers?

No thanks Septim...too loud for me.

I'm going for more rad surface area and quieter fans!

I guess you cannot use a Yate Loon fan with this sandwich configuration. The fans have "closed" corners and I cannot figure out how you would put in the screws.

I'm just not buying the whole stacked rad thing in parallel. If you want more cooling, get a thicker rad.

The whole concept is another one of Gabe's kludges designed to sell a product that doesn't quite meet the requirements. Instead of designing a new rad that performs better, he comes up with this bullshit and try's to sell it it off as better.

Not to mention it looks like a fuckin turd on a stick.

Well Andy, I'll post my results. I won't have multiple rads to test or anything, but at least we'll know if it's a viable solution or not.

These are designed to be quick fixes for those who constrained by space.

They are not designed to take the performance crown, and many people have wrong expectations.

The value proposition, however, has pretty much gone out the door. The new stackable part is a good $10 more than the regular rad, and the combo pushes $110 to $120. That's almost entering Thermochill territory and certainly costs more than XSPC.

yes but good for people with towers who want a single-loop solution for both cpu and graphics cards and dont have the time/skill to cut tons of holes into their cases to mount up extra rads.

Well, there are lots of opinions and theories.

We need some numbers. I can't afford to send them to you for testing, Andy, or I would :(

I'm just getting these because it's overkill and because i have the extra space.
MUHAAHAHHA.... 4x MCR320's, 2x MCR220's + MCR120 all inside the case.... 12 Fans...
*evil grin*

I think smee is bordering on the need for a small substation in the back yard ! ;)

I feel his pain, I have a T12W, a 1600watt Ultra, and a 1200watt Silverstone, all running on the same breaker! I tripped it the other day.... you mean Im not supposed to crunch with three machines at once? DAMN!

Ahahaha... yea I can't wait for this thing to come together either...
Went to the metal shop the other day, and then Tap Plastics, & even stopped at Dale Hardware.
Man I'm fully loaded for work on this case, updates are coming very soon. :D

Anyways, yea these stackables are looking pretty cool, however I do agree that it's NOT like having another 120.3 rad, it's basically like getting a Thermochill + 1/4.

No...USPS or Canada Post lost them, so I'm waiting for them to be traced :(

OUCH!!!! They look good and install just fine.... I found them to be the same or less restrictive than my BIX RADs....
