So do AP-30's (http://www.jab-tech.com/Scythe-Gentle-Typhoon-120mm-x-25mm-Fan-4250-RPM-D1225C12B9AP-30-pr-4784.html) Have a molex connector only for a power source, with a 3pin that can only be used for rpm sensor? While AP-15's (i'm sure we all know these but [http://www.jab-tech.com/Scythe-Gentle-Typhoon-D1225C12B5AP-15-1850rpm-pr-4501.html]) have a 3 pin for power that could be hooked up to a molex adapter if you choose? I'll be honest, I feel retarded right now.

Looks to me like molex is power only and 3-pin is RPM only.

Yes, you have it right, according to the descriptions on JT.

You can convert to just a 3 pin by taking off the molex and re-pinning to the 3 pin connector. The molex connector is the normal daisy chain type....

Exactly what I was trying to find out for. need to order some pins and shit, along with the fans then.

Are you looking to hook it to your mobo or a fan controller though?

If mobo I would check to see what the max A per header is. I am assuming that is why they went with the 4 pin molex over just running it all in the 3 pin

I think most headers are good for 1A, could be wrong tho, operating amp on a ap31 is 1.15 prly requires 1.6 on insta startup at max, prly gonna get ap30's tho. Will be hooking up to fan controller, turn them shits to max while I'm out, down a lil while I'm home, really wanna compare these to the 38mm ultra kazzies or whatever that I have been using. I have some molex adapters that came with Silverstones Air penetrator, oh yeah they sucked worst waste of money ever, with 5, 7, 12v connectors, but would rather not use them.

Were you trying to use them on a rad?

the silverstones you talking bout farkle? they sucked as anything I've used them for, over hds, on rads, on air coolers, personal fan, right now they are on the side of my 922 blowing air into it over the mobo, cause yes they are better than nothing. Edit, i meant i would rather not use teh molex steppers in my previous post
