E8600 or Q9550

Im trying to decide on the right processor for a little gaming rig.

bot the E8600 and Q9550 are around the same price.... which would you choose and why?

Note: this is for gaming so dont tell me the Q will be the better cruncher :D

nevermind... I think ive figured out that if I overclock they will both perform about the same with my GTX295 so i might as well go for more cores :D

Yup, Q9550 FTW, I have 2 and I love em compared to the E8xxx

I'm stepping down from my i920 to a Q9450 or Q9550 depending who I do the deal with. I don't need 17 at all in the least so why have it when something cheaper will totally fill my needs & I can go H20 on it right away not having to figure anything out like you do with the i7. All my parts are perfect for what I have in mind & would have had to make to many changes to set up the i7.
