Hey all.
FINALLY got my system put back together and my water loop together and leaktested, but I'm having a problem: the system won't POST.
It's giving me the C1 error code, which means there is a RAM issue. All components are known working, minus the board (got it from a [H] member).
My RAM is the 12GB G.Skill cas 9 kit. I've tried all three in all different slots, and I've tried each stick by itself in each slot, and it always gives the C1 code.
The CPU is a good mount, no bent pins in the socket (the bottom of my CPU is corroded thanks to my old cooling system, but I tested it in a friend's system and it worked just fine), the video card is fine, the sound card works, all hard drives are ok.
I've breadboarded it, as well, just the CPU and one stick of RAM and nothing else, and it still gives the same code.
Does anyone have any ideas? I've Google'd like crazy and have read everything that has come up for like 4 pages worth, and none of it helped (hell, most of the "answers" to the problems was buying another board).
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears (er, eyes ;) ). I will be borrowing some more RAM from a friend tomorrow, so I can test that out.
Thanks,
Ben
Pull out the RAM, clear CMOS, unplug the, leave it for 10 mins or so, then put one single DIMM in and power on.

Maybe the corroded CPU is not seated right? ive read that some people with the same board have had the same issue with 12gs of RAM as well and have tried everything, all getting the C1 but some turn out its the CPU not sitting right in the socket, and for some reason giving a C1 error as the board reads the problem wrong... Here is an article about it:

Hope it helps!

EDIT: I know the actual article is mainly OC problems and booting etc with 12g of RAM, but read the bottom like 40pt font in red, thats come up a lot when i search your motherboard + RAM issues and/or C1 error

Ok, I just tried pulling it all out, clearing cmos, and leaving it for 10 mins and it didn't work.
I also tried loosening the water block's screws up a bit to see if I was making uneven pressure, it didn't help.
Then I completely remounted the CPU. There are no bent pins and they all seem to be level, so they should be making good contact.

Ok, I also just tried it with some DDR3 that Jtrain let me borrow to test it, and it still would not work.

Ok, so while I had it all pulled apart, I decided to try and clean up the pads on the CPU a bit more.
This is what it looked like right after I killed the Rampage II:

This is what it looked like after I had cleaned it up a bit:

So, after this, I put it back in and...... IT WORKS!!!
It's up and running right now, installing Windows 7! Yay!

What did you clean it with?

I doused it in alcohol and use erasers. The erasers didn't do much by themselves, but the alcohol really ate into that crap and cleaned it up quite nicely.

Dude... if i was your motherboard i would give you the C1 error code too :wth: lol amazing cleanup tho :D Glad it works, so it was the CPU, maybe the problem wasnt that it wasnt seating right... but i think it is safe to say that your CPU was a tad "dirty" lol
Gratz on getting it to post tho :D

Lol, yeah, I'd give me the C1 code forever, even if it didn't have a C1 code!
I had a scare: I went to run Intel Burn Test and it crashed almost immediately with a BSOD of IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, so I was scared something was wrong with the IMC in my CPU.
But, I checked, and I just didn't up my QPI speed to be twice my RAM speed and up the QPI volts. Passed at stock settings, so I will attempt to reset my overclock tomorrow. I just wish I could remember what voltages I was running. :/
How did you NOT notice THAT??

I was excited that I had a working computer again. :D
