Looking for some recommendations on a general purpose / gaming type mouse and mousepad.

I am looking for more accuracy / precision then anything because this cheapy little mouse I have now is starting to show it's age and fail hard (If you must know... (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-910-000594-LS1-Laser-Mouse/dp/B001DJ64CA))

Wired or Wireless doesn't matter, though I would prefer wired

Also, no fixed budget, but $80 or under would be preferable

Love me some G500 (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G500-Programmable-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B002J9GDXI) action here. Best mouse I've ever had. My mousing surface sucks but I regularly use an Xtrac Ripper (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817114174) pad at a friends and it rules. Large and simple.

I've got an original G9, nice mouse. Fits my grip perfectly.
All "gaming" mice track pretty much the same these days, despite all the retarded DPI wank. Just get the one that feels most comfortable.

Logitech MX518 kicks-ass. Comes corded or cordless. Adjust resolution on the fly. Excellent gamer mouse.

I use a 1033 sUrface mouse pad. Real slick and smooth

Well I just laid the plastic on the G500 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002J9GDXI) and the Xtrac Pro HS (http://www.xtracpads.com/products.php?prod_id=7&section=2) :crack:

I actually had the G9x for about a week and that shit killed my hand for some odd reason. I think in was due to the right side of it and my hand being in a fucked up position all the time

I also had a Deathadder and that shit was a slow ass brick IMO

So... amazingly I bought this little $17 mouse at wally world for using on client rigs so I didn't have to keep switching the input devices off my personal pc for testing and it became my favorite mouse. Unfortunately though it is slowly dying out and everyonce in awhile I have to give it about 3 or 4 good slams to get it to ack' right. I also have a logitech trackball that has been around forever too. I think I am starting to see a trend with Logitech mouses and me though :hmm:

I'll never use anything but xtrac.

I started with the hammer for the large surface area, but had to tape it to my desk.
Eventually, the tape wore off and corners started to bend.
I went through two Hammers before I decided to go with the HS pro.
Smaller surface, but much more durable.

I think you'll like the G500. I've had mine for over a year now and I've contemplated buying a few just so that when this one finally dies, I have backups. It's super comfortable, heavy, well built, precise... Enjoy!

I have a RAT 7 and it feels great, so much better than my G9 or G5. But the laser doesn't seem to track as well and sometimes the cursor moves by itself which is annoying. I'm going to try to work on it some more and mess with the drivers. If I can get it working properly it will be the best mouse I have used, if not - back to the G9.

I have a puretrak talent mousepad which is quite nice as well. It is a soft cloth top mousepad.
