Where do you live? A lot of automotive places do this, usually at a reasonable price as well.

You could try asking at a local auto paint or industrial coating shop. They can sometimes recommend good local plating shops if they don't do it themselves.

I've used Sun Polishing & Plating Co. located near Toronto Ontario, they do a GREAT job and they can do metalizing as well if you'd like to plate non-conductive stuff like plastic.
Mmmmm....
About how much do you think it would cost to get the copper base of my fuzion nickel'ed?

Have any of you guys ever thought of home-plating? Would it be practical? I'd be reluctant to try something like this myself, but out of curiosity I checked Caswell and saw that they had a few, surprisingly inexpensive, homebrew kits for nickel (and other types) of plating.

The main cost in nickel plating is the polishing and surface prep.
If you have parts that are well polished you can usually talk the plating shop into giving you a good price by just chucking your little waterblock in with a big industrial run.

This is true. Also for non-copper articles, it is generally necessary to first copper-plate the article, since nickel does not plate well to very many other metals. Also, nickel is difficult to polish outright, but the plating easily takes on the surface finish of the substrate - which is why it's important to have a well polished copper base. Decorative chrome is worse, since one generally has to plate with copper, then nickel, then chrome.

Wait, but having the copper polished would make thermal transfer worse??
