No joystick :( BC2 is the only battlefield game that has horrible joystick support. I pray to God that there is proper joystick support with BF3.



I use Mouse + arrowkeys.

Up arrow = Higher Altitude
Down arrow = Lower Altitude
Left Arrow = Rudder Left
Right ARrow = Rudder Right


Mouse movement to the left = Roll to the left
Mouse movement to the right = Roll to the right
Mouse movement forward/up = points the nose of the chopper in the air (allows you to fly backwards)
Mouse movement back/down = Points the nose of the chopper toward the ground (allows you to fly forward)

Hope this helps. If you need more assistance I charge for flight training :money: hahaha

Except if you're like me and accidentally hit E instead of R once in awhile, causing you to "unuse" the UAV, haha. I gotta remap those keys...

News Update: Battlefield 3 pits you in a battle within Paris, Tehran and New York - also limits consoles to 24 players


Battlefield 3 features DICE's brand new DirectX 11-capable Frostbite 2.0 engine and will really flex it's graphical prowess on PC where it's capable of pitting 64 players in a match versus the console being capable of only 24 players.

Not only is it including a super-increase on players in a match together it will also have those battles in "Paris, Tehran and New York." EA had this advertised on their own pre-order site but quickly pulled it and replaced it with "diverse locations from around the globe including Europe, Middle-East and North America."

We all know that a 64 player match in an urban environment would really kick some serious ass. Can't wait!

-Frosbite 2.0 is the culmination of this tech, entirely re-written
-Lighting sounds neat, one "probe" contains more lighting information than an entire BFBC2 level.
-Level destruction is going to be "believable" but basically everything is destructible.
-Character animations powered by ANT, what EA Sports uses.
-AI characters and multiplayer characters have different animation sets
-No more "gliding" animations that look off, animation realism is a focus
-Captured their own war audios (bullets, tanks, helicopters, etc) at different distances to ensure realism
-Better audio cues for certain actions, more easily able to listen for threats
-Plan on better, more immediate post release content
-More unlocks than BFBC2
-Dice trying to find a good balance between customization of your character and not having "pink rabbit hat(s)"
-4 classes
-Will talk about squads "later"
-Looking into a theater mode but can't talk about it
-Will have co-op
-There will be a kill-cam but it can be turned off
-BF3's team is almost twice as big as the team for BFBC2
-They want the pacing of the single player mode to be balanced, with highs and lows. Makes the comparison to a song vs a guitar solo.
-Part of the single player mode takes place in Sulaymaniyah - Iraqi Kurdistan.
-"♥♥♥♥" will be used often, so M rated for sure
-There will be an earthquake in a level. The destruction sounds very impressive. 7 story building collapses, looks very well done
-Significant narrative that goes with the SP mode
-More than one setting, you're not in the middle east for the whole game
-PC version is lead version
-Why 64 players for PC only? No complains from the console crowd.
-No mod tools at release. Maybe none down the line either. Frosbite 2.0 is complex and mods tools would have to be dumbed down, so does Dice really want to put their time to that or would it be better spent elsewhere?
-Original story, not based on Bad Company at all.

The game should be amazing fwir, I have a bunch of details that are known.

Maps will include cityscapes. Destruction 3.0 is going to be dynamic. Dynamic shadow system with radiosity. All major guns can mount (so balanced LMGs and snipers). etc etc

More I read, the more awesome it is. Also has a 8 player co-op campaign

I use a joystick with mine ... just needed to do a lot of tweaking due to the sensitivity, but I can put 'er anywhere you want/need. :up:

Definatly gotta agree with you on that one Shoggy. I got a lot of the latest games including METRO and CRYSIS 2. I have to say CRYSIS multiplayer is better than the COD series or BBC2 and single player is outright sick. I find the COD series and BC2 fucking spazzfests when playing multi. No real strategy. Just a bunch of 12 year old kids running aimlessly and shooting at anything that moves.

I can only play multiplayer for about a half hour before I revert back to BF2 for solid multiplayer game play. That game is so fucking epic. 64 player maps! And good sized maps. I just hope this new release holds true to the original game play and the graphics are as killer as the trailers. But without having to have a SR-2 and 4X GTX580s in quad to be able to play. Those graphics look super demanding. I think it would be safe to bet BF3 will be one of the most demanding games at it's release.

Yeah, I know what you mean -- I hate the total "run and gun" action of COD; That gameplay style may work for FFA multiplayer, like Goldeneye64, but this is 20-fucking-11, and I want to play as part of a COHESIVE TEAM.

That's all COD has ever been capible of.

In BC2 on the other hand, it is possible to play as a team; Just because people seem to do this so rarely is a reflection of the player base more than the game.

Case in point: I'd say that at least 80% of my playtime is spent as medic; I'm around level 30, and I have under 5000 total kills, and a KDR slightly under 1:1; However, I generally spend most of my time at the top of the scoreboard. I do this by DEFENDING OBJECTIVES, HEALING MY TEAM, REVIVING MY TEAM, and LASTLY killing enemies. I play to support the rest of the team, and I generally do a damned fine job of it. Stats (http://bfbcs.com/stats_pc/brin). Note the number of Gold Dude and Gold Squad pins.

64 player maps!

Honestly, I find that I have the most actual *fun* with BC2 in 16-24 man servers -- this is generally the number of people I find fit comfortably on the maps; Above this and you get overcrowded, below this and they're empty.

am i the only one that hates bf3? i almost always hear people mention bfbc2 when they mention bf3 but dont they realize this isnt a sequel to the bc series? those games were meant to compete with Cod and even digital illusions themselves said they werent sequels to bf 1942 or bf 2. i just dont understand how u can like bf3 if u were a fan of bf2. it leaves everything that set itself apart from the bc series at the door. if this had been bfbc3 i would think it was a perfect game and sequel to that series. it has everything those had with improvments, but its a sequel to bf2 and instead it takes a huge leap backwards gameplay wise.

I don't hate it per-se, but gameplay wise the multiplayer is worse in every way compared to BF2. I even think it's weaker then bad company 2, at least there was some semblance of teamwork and not just 64 rambos running around. This really has no relationship to battlefield 2 other then max players and the name.
