I've been using the Thermaltake steel backplates, but they take a shit-ton of work to make worthwhile. Also, I found one shorting my board this time. So when I order a new CPU block, what should I get for a backplate? Please, suggestions you've used, not heard.

this is THE BEST back plate You can get for 775 ..

it's collored & rubber protected

the collars on the backplates allow for extreme pressures & NO warping of the mobo

I use these as screws instead of the stock screws & have them threaded up from the back of the MoBo with a hold on nut & grommet at the PCB where the screw comes out

I like this one better:

Holes aren't threaded at all so you can use whatever screws you want :) Thermalright one isn't even compatible with the various screws from across their product range :(

I've been using the Xigmatek ones with great results.

Xigmatek backplate is identical to the one I recommended and probably cheaper too :D

It's the most generic of generic backplates, but it's the best :)
