Almost finished. A few last tests and one or two minor changes and the final production can begin. With a bit luck we can ship the first blocks by the end of this week. Price is not known so far but will be not much different compared to the GTX480 block.

We have a so called twinconnect adapter. It is available for simple SLI or for up to 7 cards.

That looks sweet Shoggy. Looks like I'll be using one to cool my incoming GTX 580.
I assume we can get these from Gary and in a nickel plated version?
Shoggy

If Gary orders them: for sure.
Nickel plated variant will take a bit longer.

Sounds like those of us in the States need to work on Gary to make sure they're available here.

I hate waiting!!!! ;)

I've got sad news....Gary stated over the phone that he has a shipment of 400 series AC water blocks along with twinconnect adapters that were placed over a month ago and he hasn't received them yet. He said it would be over "a couple of weeks" until the 580 blocks will be in stock. AC hasn't even given Gary a pricing yet. :(
Oh and Gary said he's been under the weather.

Yeh I am waiting on Gary for a few things atm, but I am more than happy to wait just to do business with him.
After a recent incident I am happy to wait for things in life, no rush.

Has the 480gtx blocks worked with EVGA backplates i the past?

You can't budge the top card just a lil to keep the lever up? Beyond that, idk maybe some tape to hold the levers down? Maybe some rubber ended tongs? I haven't the slightest idea.

I can't imagine the frustration and trickery when Quad SLI cards are linked together.

Why don't you remove the twin connect first, then take out one card at a time?

I have the Loop arranged where I should beable to leave everything hoooked up. As you can see the tubing is routed to the outside of the case.

If you insist on not draining the loop, then you should probably get someone to help you.

No and the existing waterblock will fit.
Thanks for the clarification JacobF. I just want to make double sure here, since the existing EVGA waterblocks fit, this would carry over to waterblocks from EK, correct?
It should, but I can only really speak for the EVGA version since that one has been tested.
Shoggy,
Can you confirm that the 580 3GB reference will fit on the current AC 580 Blocks? Jacob, from evga confirms that their current 580 1.5GB Hydrocool blocks will fit on a 580 3GB.
Shoggy
04-12-2011, 01:59 AM
That can not fit since this card must have another layout.
BigMyke

That can not fit since this card must have another layout.
If the eVGA cards will be anything like the Zotac, They are exactly the same as the reference design. Anything that fit the 1.5GB will fit the 3GB as the PCBs are physically identical. The only change is with the high density VRAM.
But Jacob @ evga who is the product manager confirms that the layout is exactly the same. The 3GB models only have higher density vram.
Shoggy
04-12-2011, 09:37 AM
No idea. All cards that I have in mind use a different layout so you will have to test it yourself.

Which 580 cards do you have in mind? Reference design is Reference design. EVGA, Zotac, Palit.
Update on this.
Actually the hydrocopper waterblock is fully compatible with the 580 3GB card! The memory locations are exactly the same, and so are the board components. Just the memory density is higher. So you can always install it as an aftermarket solution.
Regarding a preinstalled block, we may do this, stay tuned!

IF nothing in the layout changes then I don't see why it wouldn't fit.
