I must say, W7 is pretty impressive thus far. But a heads up for anyone planning on using the beta as their primary operating system (bad idea).

Punkbuster is not compatible with Windows 7 on many many games. Furthermore, I sent an email to evenbalance asking why this is, and they replied simply: "We do not have the time or resources to provide support for beta OSes"

Sad though, considering if they wait for the W7 release, they will be swamped by millions of consumers wondering why their product doesn't work, when now they have a chance to work with technically inclined users to have this problem fixed prior to release.

If any of you would like to voice your concerns to evenbalance about their lack of support, please send them a ticket:

Even Balance Technical Support - End User License Agreement (http://ssl.evenbalance.com/troubleticket/)

Maybe if enough of these tickets are created EB will snap out of it and give W7 beta users a functional pb client.

OK, but WTF is PunkBuster?

If it's like StarForce, then kill it with fire and demand they just take it out.

That's a pretty dumb move on their part, but times are tight. If they don't have the resources, then they just can't do it.

I'm with Kayin, I've had nothing but trouble from PB. I say take some Kerosene and a lighter to that bitch, watch'em burn and let God sort it all out.

Kayin plays MMOs. If it says FPS, fuck it.

FYI COD5 is supported on Win7 so its PB being a bunch wankers... I hope someone comes in with a better idea over PB and wipes em out ;)
as Baleful said, which I say all the time to many peoples discuss, Kill em all, let god sort them out...

This is why I love Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/) so much. No bullshit like this to deal with. No DRM/anti-theft/auto installers in the background.

Steam has a few glitches here and there and a few drawbacks, but at the end of the day the pro's greatly outweigh the cons.

+1 on the Steam love. No worries about all that DRM stuff I keep reading about, some of which is apparently pretty tough to uninstall.

I would imagine that they'll get around to Win7 report in time. Remember it's still about 6-8 months away from release, according to reports. I'm sure they'll have time to get ready for it.

I've been running on Win7 lately but I'm probably going back to Vista as I'm getting issues here and there with some games and running the beta 185.20 nVidia drivers in order to have SLI has caused me some problems.
