Would the Silverstone Air Penetrator fans be good for cooling a rad or is the flow too one directional. What i mean is other fans blow a more sporadic flow where as the ap's blow in a tunnel form. Thanks

I believe the question you are asking is the one the air penetrator was created to answer, a more efficient way to pas air through an object. But I have no experience with them, or air dynamics, but I really should buy some. Can't wait for others with more experience to give some light on the subject.

The *concept* is sound -- that's why a lot of Delta fans use it. The issue with the ST Air Penetrator fans is whether or not they push with enough pressure to be effective at cooling a radiator.

The current consensus seems to be for low noise applications, you can't get much better than Gentle Typhoons.

Wouldn't a shroud do the same thing, if not better? I suppose if you don't have the room, though...

i thought the air penetrators were meant for positive pressure in the silverstone cases, if thats the case they should work great on rads. i know the mora3 rad has a 180mm mount version.

Well they are quite I will give them that, but they did not seem to push the air through the dads I have save for the lowest fpi fax I had and even that was not noticable with my bare hand, nor would it blow a match out. They might work better with a shroud but idk. I would take any scythe gt over them. 1800 rpm gt's produce a better sound then these while moving air better. I only set them up in a mock loop with a i7 860 stock on a single 120 hwlab sr1 I think it is the low fpi ones. And it performed worse than when I put a stock coolermaster case fan on the rad. But then again these were obsviously the 120mm ones and I've heard better word of the large ones though I am not gonna waist resources on them

AP121/141 fans weren't designed to be rad fans. They were designed to direct air more perpendicular to the frame of the fan as opposed to a high pitched outward spiraling "V."
