I prefer Nvidia myself. They are Green, as opposed to Red. I feel like I am doing my part for the environment when I buy Nvidia. That piece of mind helps, especially since I am pulling 850W with 3 480GTX cards. :D

Beggars can't be choosers. I run what I can, but lately it's been older nVidia products. They seem to hold their weight more than older ATI products. Gotta say, I'm impressed with the level of polish that nVidia's given their drivers lately. When the 4xx series first came out ATI stomped them in everything DX11 and now it's pretty close to the other way around. Can't wait to see what the 4xx series refresh brings!

On a serious note, Nvidia seems to have driver maturity on it's side. Had a 4870 when they first came out. Fucking drivers wouldn't allow me to connect a second display. Pretty fucking huge oversight if you ask me.
In all honesty though, each camp has its own approach to driver issues. It seemed that with my ATI drivers there were always issues, one bug fix caused another issue. Wheras Nvidia drivers haven't given me much of any issues aside from the Insane load times in BC2 for my 480 cards. That specific issue was with the game, not necessarily the drivers, and it affected DX11 cards for both ATI and Nvidia. I was just a little peeved that ATI got a workaround in place before Nvidia. I guess the point is, ATI drivers are more buggy but ATI releases revisions much more often to resolve issues in a timely manner. Nvidia has fewer issues but they don't apply quick fixes to get you back into the game.

Shit, that's almost a reason to go ATi -- fuck all this modern environmentalist nonsense. Hybrid and electric cars are WORSE for the environment than the gasoline powered cars that the hippies want to replace. Think about it; the batteries are EXTREMELY environmentally nasty in both their construction and disposal, and they also have to be charged, most of the time from the electric grid. Once you realize that the majority of power generation in this country is from coal plants then you see that that's just another tick *against* electric vehicles....
Seriously, :bird: this whole "green" movement.

It sounds to me like you're explaining exactly why Nvidia's drivers don't have the issues that ATI drivers do -- they don't rush bugfixes out. It seems to me that the reason why ATI constantly has issues is that they rush out their releases before they can properly test them to make sure that they don't introduce *new* bugs. Nvidia on the other hand seems to take their sweet time in testing the shit out of their releases to eliminate as many bugs as possible.....

This is my reason.
My last ATI card was a X1900XTX. What a waste of money that was...

My two X1950XTXs in crossfire were awesome, until a month later and nVidia released the 8800 GTX...
But at least they still worked in crossfire in Vista as opposed of waiting months for nVidia to get SLI working.

Nvidia is my fucking vote. My last ATI card was the 9800 Pro. Before that was the 9700 Pro and some all in wonder card.
My first nvidia was the 6800 Ultra, then the 7800GTX KO edition, then the 480.
I do not think I will ever go back to ATI.

LOL, When I mentioned "Green" I was trying to make a joke. Sorry sarchasm is hard to type.
And yeah, I was trying to say I prefer Nvidia's method. Apparently my communication skills suck today...

my 3870X2 was a great card, my 4870X2 is a stellar card and will be sadly missed, fucker clocks to the moon.
I'm trying to upgrade now and am in the same boat, red or green. Personally ATI has not let me down, nvidia has been late to the game but I honestly dont care red or green, whats the best card on the planet right now is all I care about, buy that and your good for a few years.

i have always heard that ati was better when they came out with the 5000 series. i havent had any personal use with ati so i dont know. i am looking at either 5850 crossfire or 470 sli.

the very first gpu I bought were dual 7950GTX KO edition cards and i fucking loved them the DX 10 came out and the 8800 series and i bought an 8800gt but made the mistake of getting the 256mb edition, terrible card and i got 2 defective ones in a row. finally i got dual 8800gts 512 cards but sli scaling at the time was terrible. I made the switch to ATI got 3X3870 cards and they were fucking intense eventully ended up with 2 3870X2's and loved those fuckers they were fucking amazing. i owned a couple 4870's but was never satisfied with them. nabbed 2 4890's and they were great caards, finally got tired of ati driver "bug fixes" making something else break, and :htfu: and switched back to nvida. i think ill stick with the green camp for a while drivers seem much better on this side.

The answer I have seen nobody give is:
Nvidia's cards scale and function very well in SLI as compared to ATI.

While your point about sarcasm is true, I was pretty sure that's what you were getting at -- I was just using it as an opportunity to rail on the whole "green" movement....
