Those are polycarbonate. They're probably pretty strong.

I wouldn't use the compressions, but it's pretty interesting to see PoC...

well now that i've gotten a few responses i'll tell you my thoughts...

i hate compressions period. sorry but they just look dumb to me. im not saying i hate you guys' builds but i would never use them in any build of my own.

as for the plastic or whatever.... IF its made right... it can be very strong.

They look interesting but I would be very worried about cracking. Anything more than a tie wrap might be too much pressure, not worth the risk to a motherboard or 500$ video card.

Never underestimate plastics Red ;)
Ive seen platics that are stronger than metal, they are designed to be though, you can give plastics all sorts of properties, but they are insanely expensive :(
but I am with you guys on these, they look weak and will probably break when tightening them even

Septim
02-02-2009, 04:37 AM
it'll be finger tightened only, definitely no pliers should be applied...

cool idea, but probably not for us frequent tubing connect/disconnect...

I wouldn't be surprised to see a flood of complaints following the first shipments of these fittings.

Some people seem to be very clumsy and can screw things up that are much more sturdy than those fittings look to be...

To me, this is far from what I define bling as...

These are in the 100% :turd: category...

If I was a e-tailer, I damn sure wouldn't stock them...

Now saying that, HANK I'd bet is on the pre-order list..

Break a steel ball with a rubber hammer, they will...

Similar to what some have done to BP fittings...:shake:

Strength issues aside...

I think they are plain fugly... and the mold marks make it even worse.

I really don't understand the idea of this.... one of the reasons I like compression fittings, is the fact they'll hide my less than perfect tubing cuts, these would probably show right through....

But, to each his own....

whateva....

-And nothing gets you in trouble faster than having your crotch set off a metal detector...

Plastic Compression fittings is where I draw the line. I might put up with some regular barbs like this, if they were super-cheap.
-but there's a reason they quit making plastic fittings for water supply lines. They break spontaneously.

Kayin
02-02-2009, 02:15 PM
I think I'll get some just to play with. They can't be that expensive...

Besides, I still have to make a plastic waterblock just to poop on Red...

I just don't think I'd trust them. I know they're supposed to be super-hard polycarbonate. I don't know...I guess I'll wait and see results before making my judgement on this new product.

I don't know maybe it's just me, but when I see something like the OP or this I think Habitrail. Cheap plastic parts that won't hold up.

There are more people that put that in their loops than people who run straight distilled, far more. That's how watercooling first started out and for some reason it just won't die. If you wana see some examples, head over to the DangerDen Forums.

Actually the data sheet says just the opposite, they're fine together. Doesn't mean anything to me, I'm still not touching plastic fittings with a 10 foot pole.

Stripped threads on comp fittings, cracks, moulding QC, etc. When I see um swap out the fire hydrin outside my house for a Lexan model, then I'll consider it:D

well I guess there's no killing stupidity, antifreeze does nothing except just that, keep it from freezing in cold temperatures, other than that it doesnt really do jack shit as far as keeping temps down. Might raise the boiling point of the water a bit, but if you're running temps hot enough to boil water, you need to reconsider wtf you're doing to your processor o.0

I'd buy a Dell and quit LC all together first before I ran this garbage.

Just me, but my only question would be why:shrug: I don't do cheap plastic crap on anything else I buy, why would I buy cheap plastic toy fittings for my builds.

For a couple bucks more, get some quality fittings that last a life time. That whole line of fitting reminds me of Habbitrails.

I'd take up knitting before I'd let that crap near one of my builds.

Not all of us have fat wallets and are able to shell out mucho denero for BP compressions. And you know you cant order just 1! If these are half the cost of BP's, then I think they will sell well. Having said that, I would sooner use the 1/2"barbs w. 7/16" tube then use these plastic shits, and I think the whole no clamps thing is really really stupid.
