Langer, that is really nice.
I have a question.. looks like on the 790i.. (I'm only assuming) you are using a nickel plated nb and sb blocks.
What barbs are you using, because the danger den/bits power fatboys do not work with them properly.

R3400 3/8" tube on 1/2" barbs (....FTW ;)), pita to connect, but it realy looks nice and it's a very solid connection.
The pump mounting system is this thing (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aquatuning.de%2Fproduct_info.ph p%2Finfo%2Fp3779_Universal-Pump-mounting-socket----Eheim--Magicool--Laing-.html&sl=de&tl=en&history_state0=), a piece of alu with holes in it :p
@Gir
did you put any ties on the tube on the cpu block? or is it tight enough?
I decided to try living life on the edge without clamps. I have plastic barbs on most of the components, which hold onto the tubing much better than metal barbs. Clamps just end up pissing me off too much when I try to get them off. :ROTF:

it's not finished yet. just received a Asus RIIE and a 965. Mounted the board on the Dimas benchtable and next week i'll start ordering parts for the loops.
Final config:
loop1 - pump-rad360-cpu-pump (pump laing ultra with XSPC top+reservoir connected directly to the res using a variable SLI fitting)
loop2 -pump-rad240-MIPS-NB+SB-Mosfet1-Mosfet2-pump (pump laing ultra with XSPC top+reservoir connected directly to the res using a variable SLI fitting)
This setup will be prepared for DICE and LN2 sessions also so i need to tear it appart when the armaflex arrive and start mounting the insulation. For daily use watercooling will be used, for bench sessions i'll remove the WB on the cpu and install a LN2 Pot (which is at the milling shop right now). Still try to figure out a mounting method, i have something in my mind but for the moment i don't really have time to draw it and cut it.
1. Preparing the benchtable

2. New mounting for stock cooler

3. CPU installed

6. Overall picture
http://i41.tinypic.com/mmbzg9.jpg
a small question to the pro's. What do you think about connecting the pump to the rad using a SLI fitting? Is it able to support the weight of the pump+res+water or i need to make a plate to support the pump?
P.S

01-05-2009, 02:09 PM
Nice gear. I'd say any pump would need support just to be on the safe side. The vibration of the pump will transfer to the radiator and into the case, so it might be a little louder than if you isolated it with hoses.
HESmelaugh
01-05-2009, 02:12 PM
Nice Setup!
Use a plate for the pump. Some SLI-connectors are done push-in style so the pump could just slip off if it's just hanging there.
Even if that's not the case, I wouldn't want to put that kind of strain (plus vibration from the pump) on a thread for an extended period of time.
ibm390s
01-05-2009, 02:44 PM
good point. sound level is not my main concern, but both of you are right regarding the vibrations induced by the pump. i'll do a small bracket which will be fixed on the outside panels because i intend to install the rads in reverse and using a punch tool drill holes for the fittings. like this the rads will be inside only the vents will be mounted outside pulling the air trough the radiator (both of the rads will be BlackIce GTX).

Well one side is attached to the sensor and the other end goes straight into the display.
I don't know if cutting the wire and putting some lenght in between will harm accuracy of the reading.

I kind of don't understand the idea of having that HUGE rad hanging off the back of your case, for "just" the CPU?????
Isn't there room in the case for a triple rad, or even just a triple rad on the back would look less..... Ummmmm...."off balance" In fact, it even looks like the back of the case is buckling under the stress of the rad. I looks as though some day, the screws will give out, and the rad will fall off.....
Otherwise, everything looks nice....

Well as weird as it may sound the Core i7 needs that kind of cooling, it can even use more!!!! Have you seen FITS build for his i7???
Anyhow, it is very stable back there, the case its not buckling at all. The case can only fit a single rad at the back, or top, or a dual fan rad at the bottom, I tried cooling the i7 with a 120.2, total failure!!!!
Thanks anyways bro, I take advise whether its good or bad

I use Sun Polishing & Plating Co Ltd (http://www.sunpolishing.ca/base.html) outside of Toronto, a bit pricey but they are very skilled aesthetic chromers.
I was looking at them, Langer.
I'm thinking about nickel-plating my Heatkiller and my RAM Freezer (when I get it).
Are they worth it? What are the costs like for a job like that?

(Do you think the bead-blasting is an actual advantage? I mean, I can see how it theoretically increases surface area, but would it be significant?)

what do you'll think about the cable management
The two PCI-E connectors to the right of the pump are now connected to the 2nd card. Everything comes out of the hole in the mobo tray and connects to where it goes. I dont think it'll get better unless I can sleeve the wires, but eff that, too much work.

Dropped in my T12W 1200watt PCP&C PSU, all new wiring management of course. Ironically this looks way cleaner than it did with the modular psu I had in there. Modular what? WHO CARES. Cleaner this way anyways.
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z6/Cutless1/New_PSU-1.jpg
Considering the following:
Holes in MB Tray for USB/Adio headers and SATA cables.
Taking it apart and painting it all black (wouldnt take much its all bolted together when necessary to take it apart for painting)
Only problem with either of these is I cant afford for this rig to be down more than an hour or two at a time, so painting is definitely out for now, the holes could probably happen with it all staying together.
My old(lame:D) rig, i'll take some new pics next week.

Hey people...
This is my first watercooled machine. I was always apprehensive about mixing water and electricity, but as time went by and by reading on some of these forums what you people were doing, I was finally sold on the idea.
I am currently running a corei7 920, Rampage 2 extreme, Crucial ballistix Tracer 6 gig in red, and 2 ATI 4870s in crossfire. I settled on the xigmatek fans in the end because I just like them. I have about 20 new fans laying around of different brands now...anyone looking for any? lolz
I am watercooling my NB and processor, but am making some final decisions on what to do with my GPUs since they do indeed need watercooling with the slot spacing of this board not facilitating the proper function of the air coolers.
I am currently using the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU 350AT waterblock and the Swiftech NB waterblock. I have a black ice 2 extreme 120.2 rad in the top of the case, and out back I went for the rx240 rad. I am using a danger den dual bay res, and a dd/laing 3.2 pump which IMO is pretty good. So far the system stays very cool and I am satisfied. I am also glad that I didn;t go with anyone else's canned "watercooling system".
Special thanks to petra's tech shop, danger den, and frozencpu.
Hope ya like it.
