Dropped a few drops of water on the outer case of my PSU, where there were no holes, and immediately wiped it up, should I be ok to put power to it, or should I wait?

if there is no holes or way for it to get in you will be fine ;)
the outer casing isn't charged :)

P.S. when unsure treat as hostile/dangerous ;)

I agree, if you have to ask the question then you already know the answer.

I say if you think water got inside the PSU let it dry; better safe than sorry.

how long would the wait be? 24 hours? 12 hours? I really dont think water got in there. If it did which I doubt it'd have been like 1 drop, maybe 2 on the outsidest chance ever.

6hrs at the most, give it 1hr?? thats safe if what you think is true ;)

its better to ask a silly question then do something stupid ;)
I would rather ask a million questions than have one silly result :)

werd ^_^ Never had experience with water before, so everytime theres a first I run to my R3 quick link and type "HELP!!!" XD

*edit* oh and, I got the cpu loop running, the problem was with the way I had the hoses run, there was a HUGE cavitation that I couldnt see, fixed it up, its now done and bled :)

ahmmm you took too much pills today cutless? lolz...

cutless, here's a famous line for you: "pics or ban"... hehehe...

show us a pics of your loop... so we can understand better... the air bleeding part...

don't drop more water on your PSU... just 1 drop of water on top of PSU casing with no holes, just wipe and power up...

Im glad it worked out for you.....

I had only one run in with water withmy graphics card I couldnt power it down fast enough it was like slow motion. Powered down , wiped up liquid, dried the with 100% IPA, powered on and it worked just fine.
Its always scary mixing liquids and electricity.....

BTW, just for future reference.... and to protect yourself (and anyone reading this...)

Don't ever plug in a powersupply with the casing off and go to touch something inside the PSU....
I did this once, wit a Antec 550W PSU, replaced the fan and turned the PSU on (with the casing off) and the fan wouldn't spin... so I reached in with my finger to kinda turn the fan blades and BOOM..... my finger had just accidently slightly touched the heatsink inside the PSU...
Sent some huge amount of volts/watts or watever it was through my ENTIRE body and made me jump from my seat like 2ft in the air....
Took me a couple minutes to recover and fully understand wat just happened.......... xD

It's one of those things where it's not best to learn from first hand experience... just listen to those who had the experience, and no worry's.

/rant...
xD i was laughing after i got shocked, cuz i was all by myself in my room and went AHHHH!!...

yea good times....

anyways.......

I onced touched a live 220volt house wire (the kind that runs cieling fans and shit), haha, that shit was funny as hell. I was taught by an electrician how to test wires before working on them, and I thought Id killed the power, but I was testing it to make sure, and BAM, hurt like hel and my hand was numb for god knows how long, over a day.

I did the same thing once while running wire for my home theater. I drilling through my 220volt stove wire. It actually started a little fire from the saw dust and what sucked worse was that I had the take down some of the ceiling below to replace the wire. The wife wasnt happy with me that day....

holy shit dude, ALWAYS make a small opening and check for wires before doing that kinda shit!

The funny thing is that I did but it was when I was making larger I hit the side of the 220 line.

ouch... when next remodeling, or redoing wall panels, be sure to know where your electric wires or anything hidden behind the wall is running...

there is a lil device that lights up when near any source of power ;) you should buy one, saved my life a few times when an electrician has given me the all clear then I test myself, because I dont care if you are 100% sure I dont trust your word over my life, funnily enough probably 4 out of 5 times the electrician has done his job, but that 5th time if I didnt check I could be hurt or killed ;)
1400volts running through a wire with water running along the line, I asked if the power was off.... I got the answer Yes, I threw my power finder at it... it lit up before hitting the water.... YES I DID HIT THE ELECTRICIAN!!!
The lesson is never take anyones word, check yourself ;)

I would love to take a picture of it for you, however I lent it to my father to use a few weeks back as I dont need it atm (not doing that kind of work) but the true name for the device is 'Non-Contact Voltage Detector' and I always buy the ones that can detect beyond a meter ;) that way you can slowly slowly wind down the sensitivity and isolate wires, but also makes it easy to detect if there are ANY live wires near by ;)

Just an Idea on them
http://www.greenlee.textron.com/product/gt-11/start.html
This isnt the model I buy, I cant actually find it, but they are cheap when compared to your life.
The model I buy has a bright light at the back and is transparent near the front so you can see the light come on regardless ;)
