I bought an Athlon II X3 440 Rana to go along with my MSI 870A-G54 a couple weeks ago, and I'm loving it. With the X3 440, as with alot of processors, it is all luck if you get a chip that you can unlock cores on. I was one of the lucky ones.
The default speed on the X3 440 is 3.0Ghz. Here is mine, 4th core unlocked, recognized as a Phenom II X4 B40, overclocked to 3.6GHz after a 6 hour stability test.
Under 100% load on air for 6 hours, the cpu temp peaked at 51c, but averaged about 48c. At idle, temps stays at 37c, and rarely goes above 43c.

Now run WCG for 48hrs nonstop and see if it stays stable. If all is good  Let us know how it goes.

Will do. I haven't been able to yet because we've been having some serious thunderstorms in Florida for the last week, and my power goes out anytime my roof gets wet :)
The forecast is sunny for the next few days though, so I'll give it a try. :coke:

I do have a question about the OC though. For some reason my DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) is only running at pc3 10700 (667MHz). Does anyone know how to go about correcting this? Is there a bios setting somewhere that I'm missing? The timing appears to be right @ 9-9-9-24-2N.

Sounds like maybe you have the divider set wrong? I forget most of the AMD architecture stuff since it's been like 2006 or 2007 since I last used one. Do they have a FSB and all that? What is yours set to? It could be you need to change to a divisor for your FSB that sets your RAM to 800 MHz. Unless of course it's set to auto timings and the SPD on the RAM is telling the mobo it's only DDR3-1333 instead of DDR3-1600. Some memory modules do that.

Nice that unlocked an extra core, but still no L3 cache. At least you got more than I did out of an x4 630. I was hoping for L3 cache, but I didn't get one of the chips that unlocks it.
Here is an AMD Athlon II X4 620 that has the level 3 cache unlocked by a member of our OC team. In order to unlock the level 3 cache you need one of the Propus chips and one of these MB Model: MB-N78S-8209
Chipset: nforce

The "Military Class" motherboards from MSI have an Easy OC control panel for Windows, as well as an OC dial for the FSB built right into the motherboard (which I have set at 4 steps / 20% over stock). I found out that the memory I bought defaults to DDR-1333, and needs to be set to 800MHz in bios. A quick call to G.Skill tech support helped me accomplish this.

L3 would be really nice to have, though it is plenty fast for my purposes, until I save enough money for the Phenom II X6 1090t.

Nice job. I just picked up one of these chips yesterday along with an Asus M4A785-M EVO for my HTPC. I was also able to unlock my fourth core as well. Going to see if i can OC it at all in the next day or so

Thanks :) Let me know how it works out for you man. It's really a nice chip for the money. I don't know of many processors under $80 that have the power potential that this thing does.
