I was planning on getting a Corsair Obsidian 800D because of the amount of space inside as well as the cable management...until I went to Frys and touched one...feels like a big square box with a window (some of you have already pointed this out) and it felt cheap (even though the $300 pricetag punched me in the face). Now I'm checking out the Cooler Master ATCS 840 which looks awesome, nice features, etc. but it reminds me of my Antec Super Lanboy on Steroids for some reason...and lacks the cable management features that I liked so much in the 800D. I'm also checking out the Cooler Master Limited Edition RED HAF 922 Case, I liked the original too but the Red looks awesome...except I really don't want a Fire Engine in my living room...

Any favorites, suggestions, or possibly ideas to F-over and rebuild the above mentioned cases with a dremel...

I'd like to cut some holes in the ATCS 840 like the 800D has for cables...not sure if there's room to do it or if it would fuck up the structural integrity...meh

You can never go wrong with the Silverstone TJ07 (most popular wc'ing case), but if you dont like that one than the Cooler Master HAF-X comes out in bout 5 days...looks like a pretty good case to me from what I can tell. The ATCS 840 seems to be a pretty good case. I thought bout getting that one myself, although I dont know how good it would be for wc'ing.

Let me know what you decide. I am curious

Talk to paul aka coolermeister. Afaik he's coolermasters daddy and has assraped everyone of there cases in ways your momma and the milkman would cower in fear/stare at in wonder and amazement. He would be the one to know what's up.

I would have to say if it came to those three choices to get the 840. Two of those cases are on my bench now getting jigsaw raped and by far the 840 shines above the 922.

I would recommend the TJ07 like mdempsey, but you would have to be willing to do some modding since it hasn't been updated much since it's launch so it hasn't got holes for cable management like all the newer cases - it's still a rock solid and one of the most beautiful cases out there imo though.

But between those three that you listed I would also go for the ATCS 480 like Marne and Nevergive suggested, it's simply tits and you won't have to do that much modding, maybe a small amount for radiators, but I can't think of anything else..

well if you dont want to modify, the 800D is the only choice you have. But if your down to modify.......
Tj07, lian li (just about any one of their full towers), or the CM 840. OR if you want a custom case and dont want to mod, there is always mountain mods cases, but there is about a month or so wait (you should call them b4 ordering to make sure) essentially with them you get to pic the case you want, then choose from different pannels with different radiator/fan setups pretty custom that way, the quality of them is good, but there are downfalls of going the mountain mods route just search the forums here and you will see. I prefer to do it myself.

I see many people are in favor of the TJ07, but I don't like traditional hard drive bays.
I really like side mounting hard drives like many cases now offer.
Anyone have a TJ09 or comments about it? Looks like it would be water cooling friendly...

In a couple of weeks (next time I am in Atlanta) I am probably going to pick up an 800D, because I am curious as to what I can do with it and I like the look of it. I'll most likely end up modding the shit out of it anyway, but whatever.

My first rig was with a TJ07 and I loved it. After that I got an Antec 1200 for free and it was a bitch, but managed to fit two 120.3 rads in it.

I've been curious about the TJ09, but I have yet to come across anyone with experience with it.

either way the Tj09 is aluminum and will be easy to mod if need be, so I say go for it. steel cases (cooler master) usually need to be hacked unless you have a shit ton of dremel cutting discs you dont mind going through. I prefer aluminum though simply because of how light ans easy to mod they are.

TJ10 looks nice too...covers the drive bays, but then I hate swinging doors.
I'm so conflicted...

EDIT: Nevermind, no need for TJ10...see here (http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=cfp51&area=usa)
That also solves my debate about finding shit to stuff in my front drive bays :)

This rig (http://www.paulusevan.net/PhotoDetails.aspx?GalleryID=3&Page=4) looks nice w/ water cooling IMO

The 700D is the exact same as the 800D without the hotswap bays correct?

And no window. From the Corsair website:

"The Obsidian Series 800D and 700D full-tower cases share the same case dimensions, rock-solid construction, isolated cooling zones, and lots of other features that make them truly great cases for builders. Choose the Obsidian Series 800D if you?d like hot-swap SATA drive bays and the clear side panel strikes your fancy; if you don?t need the hot-swap feature and you like the look of the solid side panel, the Obsidian Series 700D is for you."

What about a Cooler Master CosmosS?

Looks like you could mount a 120.3 up top and a 120.2 (or 120.3) in the front drive bays without touching Dremel, and you'd have plenty of room for a pump/res in front of the PSU.

I have no personal experience with this case, just noticed that it looks like an easy out-of-the-box wc case.

My personal thoughts on the 800D is that it could easily have been a wonderful case if the designers had thought it through a bit better - easy to top mount a rad but a pain in the ass to mount one in the base :shake:

Both the ATCs 840 and Cosmos S are all pretty easy to fit both a 360 and 240 rad without too much hassle and the HAF X looks to be another good option if you don't mind using a steel chassis.

I'm currently in talks with a new company on designing a chassis to accommodate the SR-2 board so fingers crossed on that one :hehe:
