I'm dropping this in Fatal Optimization, my new FFVII project computer. I have the PCI slots taken with RAID cards but I also have 2x PCI-E x1 slots to use. I've seen the Xonar cards, and I love the EMI shields... I'm not using this for heavy gaming. I have an X1600 pro to drop in it for VGA. This is an emulator/home theater machine. I want something that will make my Z-5300s sound good.

ASUS makes a decent sound card, right? I really don't wanna go Creative unless I must...

Will this not work? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132006

Yeah, though I think I'm gonna go for a higher end card than that. I got a lot of good music, and it would be a shame to not play it right.

Basically, if it's not for heavy gaming, don't worry about Creative, right?

I've been using the X-Fi and it has worked really well. I looked at the Sonar but I read a review in Maximum PC about the differences And the X-Fi came out on top. However for a home theater setup either card would work fine and make your speakers sound great.

I have the Asus Xonar D2 and i am astounded by it, so seems as you have a PCI-e slot free (a x1 i am guessing) get the Asus Xonar D2X

I'm really happy with my Creative x-fi Titanium. They actually got the drivers right. vista x64 works great with it. I was sick and tired of creative as well, but this card is the cats ass...

Hmm, it'll be a bit before I pick one up, but that's news to me on the Creative...

I don't have room for a sound card so the X-Fi gamer got sold lol. I'll stick with the card that came with my RIIE for now. The Gamer was a good little card though.

yeah, I've got the audgy 2 platinum, and the x-fi fatality platinum. I bought the titanium because a buddy told me it's drivers worked with vista x64. and it works GREAT.
