Take a look. It's half the price of the 4870x2 with the same 2x1GB frame buffer (GDDR3 vs GDDR5), within often 10 frames of it, and it has a completely fucking proprietary layout. Also, it has 4 DVI a card, something I want to have for a little fun project.

If I choose to liquid cool this (any why would I not) what blocks will work on it? That PLX chip is glued on. Also, I tend to think this doesn't match the 4870x2's layout, either...

Maybe some old Maze 4's. I know the 4850X1 would work for those.

Maze4s will fit, but I'm wondering about some other blocks.

Full covers are right out, unless I build it myself (never count that option out) but I'm considering committing blasphemy and severely modifying a quartet of EK Supreme VGA blocks for it...

Otherwise, I'll get Shoggy to look up some customized Twinplex blocks. Want something acrylic, as this IS a show case. Keep the anti-acrylic comments out of it, I damn well know how to work with it. I may just have to make polyvinyl tops for them, but that's how it goes.

is not there a 4870X2 with 4 dvi's out ? VisionTek had a 3870X2 with 4 dvi's but not a reference board as i had one & sold it to Smee

Swiftech MCW60 with ATI adaptor. Little Enzotech heatsinks.

Thankfully these have separate memory heatsinks. I at least don't HAVE to do the Enzos.

I'm gonna keep looking around. I'm taking each consideration and weighing it, and I haven't come to any concrete decisions.

Slappy, for within 10% of the performance but 1/2 the cost is the reason I'm going with these. The quad DVI is just icing.

You could roll with the stock spreaders and see how they do...

That's kind of a nifty card.

I thought so too. I think I'm gonna engineer something out of some plastics, tools, and a few EK bases. Should be something nice.
