Recording Audio HELP!!!

Ok, for some strange reason, whenever I try to record anything using Windows' Sound Recorder, or even Virtual DJ, there is basically no sound in the file, but using my mic in messenger, etc. works PERFECTLY.

Can someone help me resolve or figure this out? Because I need to record something for an assignment, FAST.

(Using onboard sound on a EVGA 680i board, using Windows Server 2008 R2, with Windows 7 drivers)

First make sure that the volume on the microphone is all the way up in the sound configs, and that the microphone boost feature is all the way up and then try it again.

If that doesn't work, I'd probably do a fresh install of the audio driver.
