I wanted to do a semi industrial/steampunk look with brass braided hoses and compression fittings (plumping compression ie. JIC 37 flared)
Between getting real brass braid or SS brass colored and the required fittings to change from BSPP to JIC or even NPT .... I was even interested in Pi-ton fittings, a la Orac case, till I saw the price. Fuck it. This rig needs to be built.
I'm just going to go with 7/16" tubing and compression fittings with heatshrinked on gold mylar sleeving.
Questions. The PET and mylar braids are not super fine weave. More meshlike. I want braided hose look, in gold. So do I double/triple sleeve it?
Or is there something out there that is "more braidlike"?
I want brass compression fittings, with tarnish ;)
What is the cheapest fastest way to take off tin/nickel coatings.?
If above coating stripper is viable, I might go with mcmasters tin coated copper sleeving. Pissed me off they didn't have plain copper or brass. Fuck the tin! fuck it! Why can't people passivate it or dip in a polyurethane lacquer?
Do I have to heatshrink sleeving to tube or can I run sleeving under compression fitting top. (the part that screws down over barb)
what about heatshrink under compression top?
