Well thought i should bring it onto this forum as well.

Anyhow First off i would like to thank dean for these wonderful samples. I will throw them on my rack this weekend and do some tests with it.

But the high res pictures...

When you open the nice box this is what it comes with:

The number 1 question that is to be asked is will BP compressions fit? I think most likely:

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/IMG_0137.jpg

Theres a lot of room as you can see with FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU compressions: (ewww sorry about the dirty compression, didnt clean up after)
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/IMG_0138.jpg

How big is the block? Here is some comparisions:

I like the close up of the pins :D. You were wondering on XS if you can measure the pins, you can if you want.

I'm liking the look of this block.

Hey Dean, does it come with a backplate?

EDIT: I just looked at the pics again.:fight17:

I assume the big solid plate is the backplate?

there the infamous colder quick connects.

Havent sent any out to skinnee.

i believe dean was sending him a sample directly, so i didnt think i needed to.

If he didnt get one, i wouldnt mind loaning him one of the blocks until my gainestown board arrives...

Still working with XXXXXXXXXX and XXXXX on this one so its not against the books iany! :P

But i am gonna do the tests on my own. I also need to orientate the block at least 4 times and 3 mounts each, so im looking at 12 mounts total for 30 min each = 360min.

NOT FUN!

But at least i'll get credit for finding the optium mount again.

i'm old school....
i modded some tiny long thin vise grips to use as hose temp. clamps..
I like free flow over easy connections

nice block I will say .. hope the price range is good as they will sell a boatload if it is ...................

Dean,

what pin and channel spacing have you managed to get down to? that looks like sub 0.5mm cutting disks in use there.

Looking forward to the numbers. I bet this block will have a fine line when it comes to pressure/performance.

I hope iany will allow this..

Coolant temp was taken at 26.5-26.7C

Sorry i havent had much time to update...

During this build i lost roughly 1000 dollars in hardware... My HD4870X2 died... gave me a reason to get another one tho to xfire..

Also lost my SAS controller, another reason to go pick up another monster sas controller.

Conclusion:
The FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU block... i mastered the mount.. if you guys need mounting instructions i will provide it in the below...

The FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU block has by far the most even temps i can record. In 5 mounts, 3 out of the 5... i blame the first 2 due to my noobness on mounting a new block... i got all even temps.

I'll compare this against the supreme, but if your anal about even temps, the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU 350 block is a MUST.

How did i mount my block:
1. When you have the IHS, you need to draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other. The line should not go corner to corner, but should stop a little short.

2. You then half clamp the block so all 4 nuts are screwed on and then give a block a full rotation of 360 degree's and then tigthen then clamp down.

3. Fire up your system, and allow about 2-3min on load for the time to do its final spreading...

4. Gaurentee'd flat out temps across all 4 cores....

My mounting direction:
I used left inlet right outlet like the supreme, however i dont think it will play a big role. The IMPORTANT THING!!! is the allign your square martix pins with your IHS. THIS IS UBER IMPORTANT!

My layout:

Delivery was done via this loop:
FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU 200mm res -> dual fed DDC-2 x 2 -> FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU 350 -> PA -> FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU 200mm

Nice results.

So you think this beats the Supreme? Or about the same?

at first i would of said it lost...

but as i said i had the mount completely wrong...

im about to say its near supreme, and fusion class..

The supreme with better injectors tho would win...

So worth considering if you don't already have a Supreme or Fuzion, but not worth chucking one of those to buy one of these?

Naekuh, much appreciation for posting your results, bro...:2up:

Did your 4870x2 "die" due to a problem with that butt-ass ugly DD FC Block ????

I remember you blasting EK for frying cards. Does DD have the same problem??

i have no idea why it died...

there was no singe marks... no smell of something burning..

the card looks imaculate honestly..

Motherboard picks up the card.. it just wont display... i got another 4870X2 coming in on wednesday.

My opinion is still first time user error in most cases.

You must not over tighten the screws and tighten them evenly in a criss-cross pattern.

skinnee
12-18-2008, 06:33 PM
The problem with the EK blocks was partially overtightening and the screw placements. It was just a bad combo waiting for failure. Eddy even admitted to it.

I used the EK RAM backplate and have no bending what so ever on the card.

zlojack
12-18-2008, 09:11 PM
You know well and good that I am a firm supporter of Eddy's, but I'll bet you his next gen blocks come out with standoffs :fact:

At least he admitted it would be something he would integrate into his future products.

Top plate...I gave up on EK making proper mount backplates, I use ThermalRight or Scythe backplates, hell even the Swifty looks good for LGA1366

well the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU backplate is nice. it has a rubber piece that goes under to level the backplate.

problem tho is its not very compatiable with other blocks.

another problem with the FUFUFUFUFUFUFUFU backplate is it hits my mosfet backplate, so i couldnt use it. I had to use a rubbber washer and secure it that way.

The swifty backplate is nice, but i dont think you really need a backplate guys.

honestly, get mosfet back plates instead if your running mosfet blocks, and run the cpu backplateless.

the stock backplate is very strong.

http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p73/aigomorla/IMG_0134.jpg

Well only a X58 owner would know this tho...

What's mounting pressure on LGA1366?

Cranking it down for a good seat? It'll go up.

If you have problems, make your own backplate-but I do not trust the stock backplate, for a few reasons. One, it's part of the socket-it is only designed to hold up under stock pressure. Two, most of us mount the hell out of our stuff. I personally normally make my own hard mounts. I crank till something bows and back it off a bit. Never had problems, and yes I both count turns and measure afterwards. That will up the mounting pressure.

Gabe, like him or not, was perfectly right about it. I'd rather see the backplate modded than to watch you fry a board from not being willing to mod something a little.

If you can't get them all to mount, take a piece of 1/4" acrylic and make a uni-plate from it. That will work beautifully.

Thanks for sharing the results, Naekuh.
I hope to get my hands on one of those blocks for my next round of testing, too.
