Blood RAGE, the latest member of Foxconn's Quantum Force family with Intel X58 chipset, sets the highest record of DDR3 memory overclocking with Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz armed by a Taiwan overclocker.

With a score of 2513.8MHz (1256.9*2) the test has produced one of the highest OC scores of all time, i.e., a new world record using A-DATA DDR3 800 Memory.

"Foxconn is preparing a flagship X58 board from the Quantum Force series known as "Blood Rage" apart from Renaissance X58 board shown a few months ago. The specs looks pretty impressive with the ability to support Quad Crossfire and 3-way SLI + PhysX with four PCIe 2.0 slots, 3 channel DDR3 memory up to 1800MHz (oc), 14 phase hybrid PWM and DirectFET MOSFET technology, 4in1 Quantum cooler that provides modular NB/SB/VRM cooling solution with interchangeable NB chooling adaptors for air/water or extreme cooling. There is also a QF Panel for on-the-fly overclocking from the 5.25" drive bay and a Quantum BIOS with all the OC options. The audio aspect seems pretty neat with SONAR X-Fi sound card comes bundled. There is also a Serial Attached SCCI interface too. We can't wait to get our hands on this board!"

R3, you can do the motherboard with the colors you want just by getting a black board like EVGA then get red waterblocks from BP or just powdercoat them yourself (I assume BP waterblocks tops is also metal).

RedRaider
12-14-2008, 09:02 AM
Yeah, the tops are metal. What I like are the red slots on the board.

I don't like the green / blue / white of the new eVGA x58 board, but I'm a eVGA fanatic due to their industry leading customer service.

eVGA for life, bro....:afro:

I have two things to say about this board:

1. It has mounts for 775 as well as 1366 blocks which would make it perfect for testing waterblocks.

2. For the reason stated above, I want this board! Sponsors please! :D

On the other hand, the four PCI-E slots would make one hell of a F@H machine with four GTX280s with single slot waterblocks!

That NB waterblock looks like its evil anodized aluminum !!

all i was saying is everyone has been jizzing their pants for weeks now just by looking at the board. to me its just a Renaissance with less features and red instead of orange. sure it has a better NB cooling setup but if you went water wouldn't you go with a better block like EK or something?

all in all i would take one yes... but im not even close to thinking its the sexiest board in the world. i definatly wouldn't strap my cock to it and blast off into space as one person on TPU said about it.

Just had a reply from Foxconn (nothing we didn't already know tbh) - yes the Blood Rage is being shown at CES and speak to your relevant retailers (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/support/buyinfo.aspx) as to when they will have them available.

On a side note, there is a relatively new BIOS for DX58SO Smackover with another already in the pipeline so i think this is the board for me especially as Intel were good to me in the past :hehe:
BIOS Update [SOX5810J.86A] Version 2786 (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=3018&OSFullname=OS+Independent&lang=eng&strOSs=38)

Ya I agreed I think they try to save money but at the end they hurt us more. I have the BlackOps x48, and I was able to get a replacement all COPPER block from one of the guys from Xtremesystems. (no charge) And I really liked my BlackOps board very easy setup and the dual bios is great! One for regular bios and one for a beta bios. But I am currently selling my x48 board because I have the new i7 setup sitting here waiting to be put together. ;)

Ricey
12-24-2008, 02:18 PM
I would prefer to stick to a Rampage II Extreme. At least there's a drop and fit proper NB block that will fit, and readily available in large quantities too. The manufacturer's mentality alone doesn't exude a whole lot of confidence.

I mean...how long before 12GB are going to really be needed over 6GB?

I agree with Cutless009, while this may be a cost-saving idea, it will bite you in the ass in case you bought 3x1GB and want to add more ;) I would rather pay for a board with enough expansion options to last a while.

I think it's targeted specifically for the user who will never need 12GB
I mean...how long before 12GB are going to really be needed over 6GB?

How about right now? When you render things with high end 3D software all of the data is stored in the memory so its not constantly reading and writing at the same time to and from your hard drive so its not killing it, and I cant tell you how often I run into the "this program is out of memory and will now close." error, its annoying as hell and I spend hours trying to optimize scenes so they will fucking render. Professional 3D workstations run on 64gb of ram and they have farms of render-stations that have nothing but a 100gb hd, 4 quad-core processors, and 64gb of ram to do the rendering.

Plus another commonly over-looked aspect of ram is this. In gaming all the data for a level is cached into ram, and whatever doesn't fit into ram has to be loaded when you encounter it for the first time, which means it has to ditch something else, which means its constantly causing you lag time from having to load/reload textures etc. The more ram you have, the more texture and mesh data can be stored in the ram, meaning less laggy laggy in games.

When you think about the fact that a common humanoid model in todays PC-oriented games is around 12,000 tri's and has a color map, a bump map, a displacement map, a normal map, and a specular map, all at ~1024x1024 only lightly compressed, thats a lot of space you need, especially when theres a lot of objects on-screen.

The average game level, textures, models, and all can be as big as 4gb all on its own, and with todays ever-growing map sizes, Id venture to guess within the next year we will see games that will benefit greatly from vast amounts of ram.
