Well i been trolling the reviews for a few days now. Was looking at upgrading my video card. I used to have SLI 260's but one met a waterblock it didnt like...it said something about its mother....i came back later and the card was found on the ground snapped in half. My cats are currently heading up the murder investigation but secretly i believe that they were involved >_< lil fuckers.

ANYWAY i read up on the 5770 and from what i can tell its the same performance wise as a 4890. i dont think its too wise to blow 200 bucks on something thats the same as last year.

I play alot of FPS games. I really like to blow shit up LOL. Also play wow but lets face it . wow isnt demanding at all LOL. i used to fold and play wow at the same time without effort.

Anyway some specs of rig and what not

i7 920 @ 4.2GHz
EVGA X58 SLI LE
6 GB Corsair Doms CL7 7-7-7-20 1t
Zotac GTX 260 Core 216 55nm

cpu,gpu and mobo are all watercooled. 40ish idle - 62load crunching

i game on a 42" Insignia lcd hdtv 1920x1080 resolution.

i was looking at about 200ish for the upgrade. what are my options?

Bang for the buck those 275's are tough to beat. I think Floyd is running some in SLi. Maybe he'll chime in.

Anything less than a 5850 is a waste of money when you already have a 260. 2 GTX 275s are going to be at least $460, at that point you could have close to 2 5850s or just spend some more money and get a 5970.

CES is next week. When Nvidia shows off Fermi, the 5850 is gonna drop to $200 LOL

Yup I have my EVGA 275s and love them. Ive hooked them up to many devices from DVI-VGA-HDMI and every way worked flawlessly.
At full cruch they only get to 47c with my fans on low. Once I crank them up to 12v though they chill to 45c full load. Not bad considering the XFX 275 I have in my other PC idles at 51c with stock GPU profiles.

Running a single 260 core 216. Like it a lot, runs every game that I play on the highest settings. That said, I'm not playing Crysis or anything, lol.

My brother's Dirt 2 vids maxed (DX10, duh) on his 260.

Anything above that is Great.

Maybe you could blame your TV for it not working fine with your "Green". or maybe you can blame the user for not setting it up right? :comp1:

sick sick sick fucking video. i HAVE to get that game now. i absolutely love subarus in every way shape and form. if thats what a 260 can do in that game i cant wait to get it and upgrade to something nicer.

whats his OC on his GPU? i used to be good with ftw+ on this card. it crashes now if i try to set it there. gonna try for just FTW.

I'd say that you need to wait at the very least until details on the performance of Nvidia's next-gen surfaces so that you have some idea of how ATi's 5 series stacks up.

If Nvidia's nextgen is a jump in performance anything like G80 was, then there's no way in hell I'd go AMD....

all depends on how long this card lasts. shes stopped the random blinking black screen but she wont oc AT ALL. i have to run her at stock clocks. pos. milking her for all shes worth. just got the rig running again i dont wanna bother taking the rig down, draining, removing waterblock, attaching stock cooler, deal with Zotacs RMA BS and than reverse the whole thing. fuck that.

I would go green, running sli 260's gaming at maxx in 1080p on a 22inch and cloned to a 53inch, always crunching in background, never seen a problem(in most games[l4d was always buggy with alt-tab]) You still have one 260 right M_A? If you still looking for more I would do as others have said and get the 275gtx and run your 260 as Physx, you'll be happy I think.......or wait till the future

Marne

nah i went the sli 260 route before. yea it was real nice but i like overkill. i wanna max out my games. im thinking along the lines of a 295 maybe. thing is tho can i find a waterblock too O_O

EDIT: nvm there still 600 bucks :bird:

I vote for this; Then you can get a GTX(box?)360, throw a waterblock on it and then post on the internet bitching that it's now the future, and where the hell are your flying car and jetpack?

5870 in CrossfireX, and EyeFinity............triple Dell 2408s.

You have to see it to believe how good gaming can get.

Once the 9.12 Hotfix drivers were released, I was like a pig in shit.
That DIRT game is like sitting inside a car.....the peripheral views of the two outside monitors in unbelievable.

You can see things in EyeFinity that are just completely out of reach using a single monitor set-up.
...........and with CrossfireX now working the games are smooth as silk.

oh yeah............make mine RED, please.

I don't need Eyefinity to run 3 monitors.
