After seeing this (http://www.realredraider.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=82778&postcount=27)thread, I thought id pop mine open

First thing i noticed was some kind of oily residue inside.... not sure what it is, but it smells like sewing machine oil... if you know what thats like.

From the looks of these grooves, they are similar to EK blocks, but a bit thicker, meaning less surface area.
Ill run some tests to compare it to the EK block.... and reserve my judgement till then.

I'm not liking BP's design at all....
Milling the channels out of the acetal top is weaksauce, the price should reflect the lowered cost in tooling/milling...
I freakin love BP's products, outside their full-cover GPU blocks that is...

I gotta be honest, as much as I love BP products and support them, I can't find one reason to buy their GPU FC blocks over their competitors. Especially considering the design and pics of the block shown in this thread.

That's lowered performance as well since the water will not see as much surface area of the plated copper.

I can't really tell all that well from what I can see in these pictures (they're a bit dark) but it looks to me that the bottom is milled to be flat on top with grooves milled into it, and the top has slots milled into it to match with the groves such that the pins on the top match up with the flat areas IN BETWEEN the grooves in the copper plate... That would appear to force water to go THROUGH THE GROVES in the plate... Personally I don't really see an issue with that design as such, but I AM interested in side-by-side performance comparisons, including flow rate and temperatures....

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I become sure that the internals are of sound design. Instead of taking a thick block and milling channels into it, they're taking a thinner block and milling channels into it; I would assume that the EK block (or similar designs) would be as thick at their thinnest point as the BP is at it's thickest, which should in theory mean that the heat has to travel less distance in the BP block...
Also, only having to do semi-complex milling on ONE side of the block should theoretically make it cheaper to make than a design like EK's blocks...
Really, I think we should withhold judgment on the internal design until we see a side-by-side comparison that shows us whether it performs or it doesn't.
