A few days ago received my Asus RIIE board a retail i7 965 and a mushkin tri-channel kit.

I installed the cpu on the board connected a SATA HDD and a SATA Cd-Rom and installed Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. Flashed the BIOS to the lastest stable release 0805 and run some tests. Everything works fine. After 2 days i just found out that i still have some memory at home, two Corsair Dominator DDR3 1800 kits (2x1GB) 7-7-7-20@2.0v (ver. 3.1 - Micron D9GTR) so i removed the Muskin tri channel kit and i installed three Dominator dimms in the blue memory sockets (DIMM_A1 DIMM_B1 DIMM_C1) and from this point very weird things started to happen. First of all with three Dimms intalled the BIOS reported only 2040MB insted of 3064MB

and cpu-z reported that i have 3072MB installed in dual channel

but in the System Tab in Windows i had only 1.00 GB installed.

After this somebody told me to upgrade to beta bios 0901 but the results are the same:

With the Mushkin memory installed everything works and looks just fine including BIOS, Cpu-z and System Tab. I saw several people using dimms based on Micron D9GTR chips and i intend to use these dominators on the Asus RIIE. Can anybody give an advice?

P.S I heard a rumor regarding the data stored in the SPD which need to be changed. Does somebody know enything about this??

Can't help with your specifics, but can report that missing memory is not all that uncommon in the X58 boards. A number of us have had issues with the P6T Deluxe. I am using the G-Skill 3 x 2GB 1600MHz kit. It worked fine for several days, then I noticed I was only seeing 4GB in the BIOS and in Vista (yes, running 64-bit). Have tried updating BIOS, changing mem settings, etc --- nothing works. CPU-Z reports 6GB. The board runs great other than this, but ultimately I'll have to RMA it if a BIOS fix doesn't solve the issue. Still hoping it's just a memory compatibility issue.

I have the rev2 R2E board running the 0805 BIOS, and I am seeing all 6 gigs of my ballistix tracer ram everywhere. If there is any more info I can give you that will help, let me know. I have not had any probs with this board.

Maybe I don't have the chips you mention, but if there is a way to find out, I'll try to help...no I'm not pulling off a spreader, only to have the chips come with it.
