Cosmos S Case interior has been painted a Matte Black. THe outside is still coming along. This project has been a joint Collaboration of RRT members for along time. I cant say this is MY build. If anything is RRT's. Well not os much that you fuckers get to use it :bird: this shit is staying here eat my ass LOL.


Heres a few pics of today when myself and Binge were painting the case. I took the case to bits a few days before. Beware the franken foot. Also took some pics of Binges neighborhood. All ima say is HOLY FUCKING SHIT SON YOU GOT A BIG ASS MOTHAFUCKIN HOUSE.

Obviously you popped the rivets, sprayed it with primer and then flat black, but what if anything did you do before you primed it, and what kind of primer/paint did you use?

LOL the country side is from Binges fucking driveway. that fucker has got it GOOD. him and his family are real hardworking folk. you dont get that type of shit on fucking WIC checks ill tell you that.



I drilled out the rivets with a bit that came with the dremel. kinda just eyeballed it and went to town. Here are the steps i used for cleanign up and getting ready to paint.

Drill out rivets and get all parts and materials ready.
Clean all components with Dial soap and water to degrease and remove finger prints.
Hit them with some pure Acetone to do a real heavy strip of all foreign shit (paper towels were wiping off BLACK from bare aluminum. Alot of shit you cant see on that motherfucker.
Spray parts evenly with Duplicolor Self Etching Primer. Let it sit a good 15-20 min between coats. i used only 1 coat. your results may vary.
After Primer has set hit them up with Rustoleum Satin black paint. nifty any angle can. Shoots out real thick. Just have steady arm and shoot from 8-11" back at a 45 degree angle. DONT double back on yourself if you miss something. wait for it to dry and go over again in the same direction. GO SLOW but not slow enough its pooling on that fucker. If you got any orange peel or other random shit in the paint again wait for it to dry and hit the affected areas with some 400-1000 grit sandpaper. Be real careful. afterwards hit it up with some more paint to make it look right.


i suggest doing this on a warmer day. Myself and binge were freezing our dicks off outside LOL. fuck it it was fun learning experience for me having never painted shit before (well once before but were not gonna talk about how horrid THAT turned out good god O_O).

Binge is the fucking man. Thanks again bro couldn't have done this shit without you. Were still nailing down the final paint setup for the build ^_^ it will be sick tho so keep an eye out for it.

Nice tip about the acetone, that's a good idea. And you're right about doing it somewhere warm. I've seen that shit crack and wrinkle because it was too cold. Keep the coats thin and you should be fine.

Whiped down with acitone to remove a good deal of the hand oils/adhesives left behind by the previous owner. The paint used was an all purpose spray on top of a self etching primer. I'm not sure the brands, but Marne's got the details covered nicely.

Well spent the night finalizing the mobo block install. thats in and so is the HK. mounting the rads, and the mobo into case, slapping the plastic bits back on the chassis and calling it a night for now. i have to say. the camera is just the one from my phone. its not that good and my lighting is horrid. i live in an old house so half the pics i have im actually holding an old school lamp without the cover to shine light directly on object and TRY to capture the image.

FUCK. trying to bridge the gap from HK bottom (out) to the mobo block bottom hole. tried with a 45 on HK and a straight on the mobo. tried 2 45s facing each other. no matter what the tubing bends.

Top mounted rad to 45 and comp combo on top hole of HK. from there its SUPPOSED to come out from bottom of HK to bottom hole of mobo. than from TOP of mobo to video card. it looks good that way IMO. im gonna purchase a pair of 90 rotaries from jabtech and see if that fixes it. if not than i have yet more pieces in my growing BP army

btw ppl i need WHITE led fans and WHITE sleeving for this build. Anyone know where to get some quality shit lemme know. im using MCR 320 and 220 rads. my current fans are something like 88cfm and 47cfm. would like to get most performance out of these things ^_^

FUCK. ran into a snag guys. my EK 250 res is entirely too fucking big lol. after running the system for a while now i realize yea the 250 worked great for the previous setup where 2x120 was in drive bays. now that its flat on the floor of the case i dont have all that room for pump and res combo.

im thinking a EK 150 will cut off about 100mm (give or take 4inches) and allow me to once again fill my res and keep a functional pc ^_^. also gona order my 2 90 fittings to fix that issue from earlier.
the way it sits now my pump is ON the fans for the 2x120 and just barely missing hitting the fans on the top rad LOL

I run my HK with the outlet at the top of the block, just so that it's harder for air to get trapped inside the block; if you did that it might help with your tubing, but then again probably not -- it shouldn't make it any worse though.


As for dual-rotary 90 degree fittings (http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/big14shsidur.html), if you turn it so that it does an s curve with the outlet and inlet in opposite directions slightly offset, then it's fairly easy to get onto the HK -- Right now I've got one of those I linked to along with a 45, and it wasn't too much hassle to get them on.

starting on all the fan wiring tonight. i hope it comes out clean. dont mind the color of the wiring. radio shack only had a few spools left of 24awg shit. this is gonna be my 1st attempt at soldering. i cant do the shitty strip,twist and tape crap ive done in the past. looks like supreme ass. this will all get cobered with real nice sleeving if i ever find what i need at a price i like.might try to dye the wires. saw it done on some other guys build log along time ago. dont remember how he did it tho. i just know the shit he used was NOXIOUS. he said to keep the pc out in the garage for like 3 days or some random shit like that. apparantly stinks that bad.

One tip for when you're soldering your wires together -- slip some heatshrink over one of the cables BEFORE you solder them together..... If you don't have a real heat gun to shrink it, you can try a blowdrier -- it may well work... Otherwise you can shrink it with the side of the iron, or lighter, just be careful..

If you can't get them out with a screwdriver, you need to drill them out, and then use a special drillbit to back them out..

yay great news. got my 90 fitting today. after hacking up a good 7 inches of tubing trying to find the right length i went to the old standby. cheap ass duralene home depot tubing lol. i got miles of that shit. took better part of an hour but i managed to cut a piece that was perfect in that tiny ass spot. it was a real bitch to do one cuz there literally right next to each other. The HK is just SLIGHTLY higher than the mobo block so i had to make that stiff ass black tubing bend slightly in that tight spot.

All i need now to get this fucker leak testing and the dreaded windows install is to get my EK res from hank (sorry gary you were OOS and i needed one NOW) and to get my ram from amazon.

Amazon shipped quick as hell but the decided to be epic slow on delivery. im not gonna see that shit till the fucking 24th. god knows when my ek res will ship. that fag hank still hasnt shipped. il try and see if his legendary failure of customer support will know wtf is going on.

Well Gary came thru and got me the stuff before thanksgiving. i ordered it express mail thursday night about 830 pm and it got here about an hour ago. it shipped friday at 4:12pm

The res is fucking AWESOME. its a fat wide SOB. looks great compared to the skinny thin dick EK resevoirs were all used to. also i have confirmed it. you can EASILY stick 3 compression fittings side by side on the bottom cover of the res.

My plan was to attach via Dplug the res (middle hole) to the pump top. i can do that fine but than my 45 and comp hit the pump top. im gonna have to go back to the old stand by of sticking res on wall and feeding a tube between res and pump top. oh well at least they will be comps this time around and look sexy :) im gonna have my 90 barb fitting leading out to a sealing plug as a drain. this is gonna be tits when im done. i shold be leak testing by tonight and hopefully installing windows by tomorrow morning if all is well.

im off to Target to get some more 3m sticky velcro tape shit.

Well for around $100 you can get a very decent camera that will take much better pics, and last you a few years.
Should be a good investment and a great way to start out in photography if you plan on buying a DSLR in the future.

got it leak testing. have a slight leak on my rotary leading from pump to duble rad. i think its the pump top. its pom so it might have stripped from all the times ive twisted a fitting in and out of that fucker. also have a much more minor leak coming from triple rad to HK line. gonna shut it down for tonight drain it and reconfigure. hopefully its all take care of by tomorrow. meh.

well 2 of my rotaries turned out to be defective. all good. i redid the layout somewhat. not happy but it will do. it would look tits if i had one of those BP shiny pump asses for the D5. i took out the rotaries and just used longer tubing with st8 comps. no leaks :)

leak testing now. kinda worried tho sound slike my pump is cycling power and wasnt working for awhile. i dunno if the loop is working :(

As I understand it, the rotaries are sealed with an o-ring just like regular screw-in ones, although I'd figure that the rotary fittings would wear out their o-rings faster... If after you teflon tape the shit out of the fittings (I did 2-3 turns on every fitting -- it should feel a bit snug going in, and you'll have to redo it every time you pull it out) you still see rotaries leaking, you should get in touch with Vincent -- he may be able to walk you through replacing the o-ring in the rotary, or he may have you get in touch with the vendor from whom you got them... Either way, I'm sure they'll make this right.

I wouldn't buy any sleeving that isn't from Sidewinders or (if you need color) MDPC. Anything like that linked stuff at FCPU is very thin so the wire color bleeds through, and it's packed FLAT and squished and never really recovers. It's cheap and shitty.

Jab-tech sent me my 2 90s back instantly without issue. the new 90 rotaries are harder than prehistoric elephant shit to turn. old ones were looser than fuggers mom.


Sidewinder retapped my pump top and successfully extracted my stripped screws and replaced the screws in the heatkiller block. they STILL havnt gotten a word on my fittings tho. i dont know who the hell is dropping the ball here. Gary or Vincent. yea the fittings were dicked up but i want to know already. Are they gonna be replaced? yes? no? some? none? I just wanna know already so i can either buy new ones or what. Not too happy that they leaked in the first place. I saw them leak so i hit them with a small wrench. It fucked them up apparently. Yea that sucks but it wasnt leaking from the threaded part with the O ring. it was leaking from the rotary itself.

also no i do NOT have it in the outlet port. there is two IN and two OUT on the BP top. i d plugged directly into the IN hole. it would have killed the pump by now had it been backwards. it wasnt drawing water at first due to the enourmous amount of air in loop. i used a lil vacuum bulb thing to suck out alot of air than hit the switch on the PSU. it made a crazy noise and drained the res in about 2 secs. refilled than kept on jump starting it to get it going. its been running fine now since about 440ish am (last time i remember looking at clock before crashing)

also im not worried about the letters on tubing. dont look horrible and im not that anal :) im more performance than show. it does what it supposed to do . carry water from component to component without leaking. its black so its good enough. what resolution SHOULD my pics be taken at? i usually use my girls HP photosmart M525. i took these with a Samsung Digimax A402

I'd suggest you play with the tubing a bit -- don't try to pull it out just wiggle it around a tiny bit, and then leave it for another hour or two. If it doesn't leak after that you'll probably be fine. This is about what I did, and I found that one of my tubing runs wasn't properly seated on their compressions -- I went to move the tubing run away from the fan it was bumping against and it started to drip at a medium speed (not sure if it wasn't all the way down on the fitting to start with or if it just wiggled loose because the ring wasn't tight enough), so I mostly drained the loop then re-cut the ends or cut a new piece (I can't remember which) and re-did that section and then re-filled the loop and then did a leak test run for another day or so. It's been fine ever since, although it's about time to refill the loop...

well its been going since 4am. ive movied them around a bit to make sure there all in and i used about 80% new tubing and made well sure it was flush with the bottom part of the comp before i held it on and screwed down the comp ring. its been golden :)

im back in windows now. i DLed the newest BIOS,video,chipset and network card drivers to the laptop and transfered it over. updating now.

im idling at 35c according to the led readout on the mobo. still at stock speeds, all i did was tell it to go to 1600mhz at 7-7-7-20 and 1.65v for ram

after i loosened my heatkiller block a bit to fix the shorting/power cycling issue i just went directly to the windows update website (not thru windows update via windows) and it told me i needed to "install" win update. after i restarted it was all there. also now that im actually in wondows its grabbing about 1400 updates. ima be here for awhile LOL

The motherboard has a POST code display. When it the machine isn't booting right, keep an eye on the POST code display and take note of what POST codes it shows.

I remember having an issue with my E758 and my 8800 GTS where the card wasn't seating right and the machine wouldn't boot; I watched the POST code readout and saw it stop on something that the manual said was something about "video card BIOS." I reseated the card and it booted just fine.

Seriously, that POST code LCD is DAMNED USEFUL, so USE IT.




As for Windows updates.... Damn good idea; I'm going to do that myself -- it's only been since mid-October....

the BP top for the D5 has 4 openings. two on the side directly opposite the pump itself and on each above and below that. the top port and the 1st hole on the pump top are feeding IN. the other two are feeding OUT. i have my resevoir D plugged into the top port. the 2nd in port has a stop fitting in it. than the output leads to my 240 rad. the very bottom port also has a stop fitting.


shes been running this way a good 2 months now so i think im good lol. if you promise to say nothing about it ill THINK about slipping a little info about the upcoming changes. its gonna be expensive but it has to be done :D

nice rig, horrible luck lol. glad you got it all together and working, if i had read all this i might not have even tried to wc...only leak i had was with the dual bay for dual ddc's and didnt tighten the blank down(only had 1 pump in the beginning). actually have had more hardware issues than anything, gpu died after finally getting the ek mobo block on and adding the XT and doing 2 loops, now i cant get the rig to run sli w/o bsod...but your shit looks good.

how was it working w/ your case? just built g/f a pc using a storm scout but now she wants one like mine and will not use a stacker 830 again.

I'd put the 480 and the 240 in the bottom compartment, and the 360 up top.

Don't think you easily fit a 360 in the bottom on the same side as the PSU.

oh no ive looked it up you can fit a 360 next to the psu quite nicely int he ass of a tj07. my only concern is the 240 in the roof. its been done but i want to do it cleanly. also how to route tubing from the 480 to the cpu cleanly. even if i do a reverse atx setup (which i would like to do so you can actually SEE my fucking gpu blocks it would still have to cross over.maybe someone that knows what they are doing can draw up something nice?

I was on the phone with Red and he managed to spot a deal for the case for 318 bucks on amazon - knowing full well that fucker goes for 350 or more i jumped on it like stink on shit. i check a few hours later and that bitch is back to 350 LOL

Agreed on those choices for the res

And I also think the triple and the psu will not fit on the same side.

I have looked into getting a TJ07 and the only way you could fit two triple rads or even two quads was to move the psu into the drive bays and have the psu exhaust facing down into the rad compartment. I'm not sure how well it would have worked but its a possibility. I was really into the TJs at one time :o :p

:) all is good except for what looks like a small dent in the mobo panel...dunno if i should send it back. its not too horrible and it looks like it COULD be covered by the mobo... plus it dont have access to the area behind the cpu OR holes for cables. im thinking i should just mock up my 775 board (should be the same size as my x58 LE right since there both atx right?) and mark up where i want the holes. from there i just have to drill and dremel my way thru. also should get the rads and other shit actualy IN the blasted thing. once i figure out how ima run it all ima take it to the powdercoaters in town. ill see what black finishes they have :)

BAM BITCHES. I fucking did it. :D Reverse mothafuckin ATX.


Took a bit to figure out how it was done. I unscrewed the top guide rail and screwed it into the opposite side of the case top. theres already holes for it there. than you drill out 4 rivets in the midplate that re holding the botom rail. slide the bottom rail over to the opposite side of the mid plate. pop rivet it into there.

DONE. i see now what ppl were talking about by wanting a new backplate. im ordering mine as we speak (hopefully they have it in stock. it will work just fine without it it just looks like ass tho LOL.


next step is to order my BP rad grill and mock it to the top for the cut to fit a 3x120 rad. from there after all the cuts have been made for the entire system i link up with Alex (Frozen Q) and have him powdercoat this bitch ^_^

Then there's murdermod, and with that you're looking at 60-70 USD before shipping from Canada. well i ordered my PSU - cant get sleeving apparently cuz EVERYTHING on fucking murderfags website is fucking sold out. wtf asswipe never thought to STOCK UP? i mean its a TJ07. ONE case. I know its popular but COME ON. its been out of stock for at least a week. friggin bullshit. i want to hurry up and submit to the anal raping of 70 bucks before shipping for sleeving.

oh and on a side note i FUCKED up my car. taking my girl to work i slid out on some snow trying to go up this hill that penndot failed to fucking salt. they plowed but didnt salt. transparent sheet of ice across the whole fucking thing. NOONE saw this shit. i turned left to go up the hill at like 4 mph and went sliding all the way across. my tires are brand new and all wheel drive couldnt save me. shit was slicker than a seal ina tub of astroglide.
