My res keeps making these weird farting noises at me. Anyone know what it could be caused from?

Could be sloshing, could be a fill problem uncovering the inlet. Res type and position in the loop?

Could also be elsewhere and you just hear it from the res...

Do have another way of describing the noise? And what type of res? Is it more above the loop fluid level, middle or below?

And you just know what's coming:D

What order and orientation is your loop?
Sounds ( pun intended ) as though your radiator end-chamber may be "burping" a slug of air/water periodically.

burps and farts.... hahahah.

my rad burps/farts until the air is out. with the iwaki it just takes a few mins tops though.

maybe your pump is crapping out on you? hahaaha

I will try and refrain from mocking the noises....

It sounds like an air bubble spitting out every once in awhile.
Somehow air may be getting trapped and then released, making your "farting" sound.

I can't say anything else without going way off topic.......

Thread title = lol

Also, thread is useless without pics. Perhaps we could better determine the source. It sounds like some type of vapor lock is occuring in some corner of your loop and then releasing or something.

:hmm: I'd try the loop without the reservoir between the gpu and the next rad. I can't see any benefit in having one there. The only thing it would do is cause a loss of flow ahead of your 2nd rad. ( this could very well be the cause of the "burping, farting, queefing, etc etc ) If you really want the second reservoir, you could put the 2 reservoirs back to back to aid in air bubble removal.

Yeah I can't see any benifit from having a 2nd res - 1x big one maybe, or a 2nd rad. I acn only see it being a bitch to bleed

Given the dates, this thread may now be dead, but I'll offer an answer anyway.

My guess is that the farting sound  is the "acoustic signature" of what amounts to being a mild form of suction cavitation involving aerated coolant. I expect it is coming from your pump. I have frequently encountered this in my builds. This condition occurs when the pump suction causes the very tiny air bubbles in aerated liquid (often invisible to the naked eye) to expand at the eye of the pump impeller. These enlarged bubbles are carried over to the discharge side of the pump where they experience higher pressure and are compressed back into tiny again, but they make noise in the process of interacting with the impeller while in the expanded state.

If you're filling your system with distilled water, try deaerating the water by boiling it first, letting it cool so you don't shock anything in your rig, and then filling and bleeding your system. Don't wait too long before completing this process. When you're bleeding, run the pump using brief cycles a second or two long, interrupted by removing entrapped air from your reservoir. Excessive running of the pump with inadequate bleeding just aerates the water again.

soo boiling takes the dissolved air outta the water ?

soo boiling takes the dissolved air outta the water ?

mmhmm, yup... like if you got a lot of gas in your stomach, just drink some hot water and it'll disovle/take away the bubbles.... xD

Yea ... at the boiling point of water, the solubility of oxygen is essentially zero:

Other gases in air follow suit. (The decrease in solubility as temperature increases is why beer in an open container goes flat as it warms.)

For watercooling: Boil the water to drive out the air, cool the water, fill, bleed the system and avoid entraining air as you do it to prevent the air from dissolving back in again, close the system.
