I am looking the rediculous cost of 1 foot of Tygon 3603 1/2
ID x 3/4" OD at $3.00/ft vs Durelene of the same dimensions and length at $0.65/ft. All prices are from Siderwinder Computers. Both are made from the same manufacture, Saint-Gobain. I do know that both can handle the 3-4" bend radius, without issue, which is the distance using a straight compression fitting from the Northbridge to the Southbridge. Also the durometer (the softness, lower is softer) of Tygon is 55 and the Durelene is 60. See this article for details.

Which is better and why? Which do you use in your system and how tight are your bend radi? Which one will hold up better to biologics and UV?

Let me know what you think.

Duarlene will cloud much faster than Tygon IIRC.

Yeah, the durelene isn't as high quality as the tygon, but for the price it's not bad. I'm using the durelene right now, because I can't justify spending 5x as much on tubing that does the same thing with the only disadvantage being aesthetic. I've never used dyes, and I no longer use any biocide, so I can't speak to how it holds up against staining. I'm happy with it though, even more so than with the cheap masterkleer brand. With 7/16" ID over 1/2" bp barbs, you don't need any clamps. In fact, I haven't been able to remove it from a barb without cutting the tubing.

As someone who has used the Duralene, get the 3603 if you need to do a 3-4" bend radius. It will save you a lot of frustration.

And yes, the Duralene does cloud quickly, although it doesn't look that bad in my opinion.
