Just a pet peeve of mine that i thought i'd get off my chest before the new year :D

I've noticed recently that many people (not just on this forum but all over the net) post links for a product for example with just the URL and expect people to click the link when in reality a lot of time could be saved if the poster substituted the URL with the product name.

Is this just laziness on the posters behalf and / or is it to much to expect from the readers point of view???

For example............same link but at least it could save time by not clicking as i know already what an EK Supreme looks like

http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=211

or

EK-Supreme - Acetal (universal socket) (http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=211)

Haha, i hear ya..

i'm more intrigued to click the one with the name in it...

good idea, ill have to start doing this.

Also, I've found that, when you post something, say in a worklog... about 50% of the time people aren't even reading what you type, just looking at the pictures... so if I try and explain something by typing it and putting it underneath a picture, most of the time people will post asking "so how are you going to do _____?" even though I just explained it... xD

so i try to explain things in pictures... much easier :D

I feel the same way man. Every now and then i'll do a lazy post, but 9 times out of 10 I add the URL to the product name. Looks much better IMO.

Yeah I'm with ya coolmiester
When i used to admin a forum about 5 years ago when u posted a URL, after pressing the url button you could add text above (to replace the URL) in the same box and I'm sure that forum was vbulettin, i could be wrong?
I never wanted to seem like a noob so never asked how to do it Ashamed now i now know u can highlight the txt u want to replace and click the URL button
But that's not hard to do - is it

EDIT: other forum brands are different and have the option to add text when u add the url. I'm not sure why vbulletin doesn't have that

On HWC, all links posted by users is always replaced by the page title via a vBulletin mod.

Lot of forums are like that, definitely makes it easier on everyone.
