Well its official from DFI that my X48 T2RSB Plus is non repairable because of "the northbridge had been reinstalled and excessive had torque put on the north bridge screws." Too bad i've never touched the north bridge and they want $40 to try repair a 6 month old board
Here are the pics from DFI

So i figure i might as well just get a new board seeing as how this rig will mainly be for crunching and i need something that i know will last. I was thinking one of the gigabyte boards with the p45 chipset would do me well, and i wanted to ask you guys first of course. I'm really just looking for an inexpensive solution as i have a long awaited upcoming i7 build that i'd like to do.

HOLY SHIT YOU WERE ABLE TO CONTACT DFI! You must tell me how...I couldn't figure it out, I went to contact an engineer and it jsut reverted to previous screen lmfao!
But my board is deactivated at the 'egg but it runs my e8400 to 4500mhz; it's the MSI p7n Diamond, which I've heard sucks but, w/e.

I had to call dfi at the San Jose station, the phone number for RMA is 510-226-7500, the lady sent me an e-mail with an excel doc for details about the problem plus contact info. I also had to send her a copy of the original invoice, she gave me an RMA #. I shipped it out and then got that e-mail today.

I'm up in the air right now, i think i'll probably crossfire but as of now i'm sticking with single gpu setups. I agree that the rampage formula is a sick board i'm just trying to find a good new board under $150

Agreed!
Unfortunately Black Ops boards are sold out most places...

if you are after something different before going to i7 or i5 why not try out a Zotac 9300-ITX board. Its got one x16 slot and is so fucking small you could put it anywhere.

huh...
whats with all the silly suggestion on silly boards
best of the best of the 775's
rampage extreme.. nothing beats it.
just make sure u stick to d9gtr's and samsung HCF0's
avoid the rest.
didnt have a chance to test the hypers and bbse's on them but heard from george.. it looks good stuff.
think cheap*** also did some benchies on the hypers.
btw the engineers has nothing to do with the rma..
they only do the report and suggestion.
rest is the rma department..

an old e6600 C2D
As of right now my number 1 is the gigabye ep45-UD3P with the more expensive alternative being the rampage formula.

the UD3P is shit for dualies, the board gives high clocks for quads but I have yet to see any real long term stability.. I'm not a gigabutt fanboi
Much better choices out there for your chip, you could grab a Maximus Formula X38 board for under 80 bucks used, flash it to a Rampage bios and clock the shit out of your chip
