Well its that time and im having a hard time if I want to stay with Vista 64bit or move onto W7 64bit...
What do you guys think?

Ive tried W7 during the Beta and it was nice on my HTPC. Id love to put it on my laptop but it only has drivers for Vista so im SOL there.

So who's running it and do you think its worth the jump?

Go W7 x64 and don't look back... The Vista media would make for a nice microwave fireworks.

Windows 7 will be released to the public on october 22nd. That's in just about 2 weeks.

Fuck retail, just get a OEM version. I think it's just 100-150 bucks.

Wow I thought W7 was already out.
I might just stick with Vista 64 though because I havent had any issues with it. Ill just start with a fresh install and go from there.

Try here - Windows 7 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/download.aspx)

Actual serial to test it out ... just no downloads available anymore. Just need to find a torrent to get it now.

64 and 32 bit version keys are still available until Oct 22nd.

This "test" version will remain functional until "March 1, 2010"

Thanks Joe but im just going to buy a retail copy and be done with it. Having a OS expire sucks, thats why my HTPC is down right now. I had the W7 Beta on it but it expired and shuts the machine down within 2 hours of startup. That and for some reason the Vista copy that was on my laptop is no longer valid and since I got it for a "display" discount at staples I dont have the Vista code on the bottom of the laptop to activate it anymore.

The only thing I hate about Windows is the fucking validation thing. Most of my PCs worked a few weeks ago, now im down to nothing!

Win7 x64 beats Vista x64 hands down IMO. Don't worry about your laptop drivers either, Win7 should work with everything right out of the install. I've installed it on 5 different machines so far, 4 of those were completely different laptops and none of them had any driver issues. Win7 knew what to do with each device and it worked flawlessly.

I had tried the Beta on the laptop and I couldnt get the wireless or bluetooth to work.
IDK if im going to wait till the end of the month to get a working OS. I think im going to settle with Vista and then get W7 later for my next rig.

Marne I could not agree more! Fuck You Microsoft :bird: and kiss my :moon:. If you would release a quality product you would be out of business. WHO THE FUCK PAYS $275/hr to have the FUCKING tech support guy tell you that:

a.) He can only solve your problem depending on how much you know about Windows 7.
b.) He he must use at least 4 hours of your time to help you solve the problem.
c.) He must charge you at least 4 hours to solve your problem.
d.) He must take at least 4 hours to call you back, plus he must charge you 4 hours to solve your problem.
e.) YOU MUST WAIT AT LEAST 45 MINS ON THE FUCKING PHONE WHEN YOU COULD HAVE LOOKED THE ISSUE UP ON GOOGLE AND HAD IT FUCKING SOLVED IN 10 MINS!

Guys all my bets are on option E.

What do you think?
