Wifes rig is a E8400 on a Gigabyte DS3L board, overclocked to 4.0GHz

Recently is being a bit of a bitch, randomly restarts , no BSOD and the overclock is solid...as an example I set my coffee cup on the desk rather hard this morning and the rig rebooted....

So when it was built about 7 months ago it was solid no issues on restarting, today after the coffee cup thing I waited for the pos to restart then I hit the desk with my hand and the rig rebooted...
So wtf do you think??? short someplace, crappy PSU, much more from that rig and I swear I'll drive my fucking truck over it and be done.. I dont want to rip the whole thing apart if I can avoid it I'm trying to get my classy build powerd up

Sounds like a loose wire connection. Check the main power cord and easy ones first before going down the PSU route.

motherboard power/mosfet wonky...

had an ep45 ds3r, 5months 24/7 crunching 100% suddenly had those exact issues, and finally wouldn't boot up, even after clearing cmos...

had to return it for replacement, then sold the replacement and got me an ep45-ud3p

from now on, i told myself never to buy a mobo without some mosfet heatsinks...

I have the rig apart now, going to set it up on the mobo box to try and rule out a short someplace.. hope I dont need a new board my cc is in shock from i7 shopping

I have a rig like this. If I wiggle the 24 pin power supply cable it will turn on and off. I haven't figure out if it is the PSU or mobo that is causing a loose connection.

My HTPC had random restarts with the main power connection where it enters the PSU on the back of the case. New cable and tada it works fine now.
